Matin Keamy - Day 34 ("Laying The Dead To Rest")

Keamy had stayed with Victoria and William for what seemed like a eternity, his two friends had sadly age fast wrinkled where forming on there faces they became more frail and pale.

"I will go and catch us some food" Keamy stood up, after all the long years he had stayed with these people he had not used his gun once and he wasn't planning to. He could have helped his friends with those Bear attacks or the natives that had hunted them down many years ago but except he decided to keep it hidden from them, they never understood what happened to him. He kept it loaded for one reason and one reason only, he kept it loaded and by his side because there was a chance that one day, one day he would return to the right time, he would return to the Linus case. A lot of things happened in the future, Keamy knew Linus was out of his hands but he kept the gun for protection, protection the people on the island, Oceanic survivors, hostiles, his own men even the red neck, who he got on so well with. But he hadn't had a head ache for a long time, of course he had head aches but not the Head ache the one that meant the most to him. He was more confused by how Victoria and William where still alive and well after all these years they should be long dead, but there not, they may be soon approaching death but that doesn't explain whey they have lived so long. would the same thing happen to him would he live a long life, well that depend if he ever got off the island. Now back to the subject at hand, Keamy went off to bag a boar, Victoria and William needed there rest, Keamy was in charge now, just like old times.

"Sometimes I wish I was dead, I hate this damn island , its nothing but leaves and trees"

Boar where all over the island there where not many people living on it apart from the three and the natives. There where structures like there was in the future, no Dharma no Linus, He was however surprised to find a massive man made masterpiece a statue could be seen from many of locations on the island though he never ventured there it was too dangerous. Too risky, the natives must have made it many years ago. Keamy's tome on the island was like no other experience he had ever had, it was nothing compared to Iraq, nothing like those jobs he had with Charles, His venture on the Freighter all of those honorable mentions but nothing compared to this. Volcano eruptions, Japanese airplane crash, the purple skies somehow he has happened to escape death from all this.

"Boar, got you"

Keamy launched a spear at a fat fairy pig that ran away from him, the spear must have been thrown so hard and fast the tip stuck into its head, jackpot, Keamy had gotten pretty good at murdering boar. Only thing left to do is skin it and cook it.

"Ah. boar, my least favorite meat, I'd rather eat rat droppings than it this sh!t"

Monday = Boar, Tuesday = Boar, Wednesday = Boar penis (cant let anything go to waste Victoria normally eats that though), Thursday = Boar again, Friday = roasted boar (my favorite), Saturday = Boar again and Sunday = Fish.

Keamy dragged the carcus through the jungle back to the caves.

"I'm back with a decent portion of boar"

Silence drowned Keamy's ears, not as sound, Victoria and William where lying where they usual lied, at first Keamy thought they were sleeping, he carried on doing his usual stuff, he made a fire, and begun to cook his favorite meal. Night soon rushed through the sky replacing daylight.

"Wake up my friends the diner is ready"

Silence.

"Did you hear me?"

Keamy's spirit lowered, he slowly checked the bodies no pulse, no heartbeat. tears ran down Keamy's face for the first time since June 2nd 1990, he hadn't cried since he killed that girl in cold blood, rape.
Keamy burst into tears.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking straight, I was young"

Keamy opened up to himself he showed weakness, he showed sorry, it was too late what he did to that girl was in the past, he cant change what he did.

"Ah, oh no"

Head aches the right one, the good one.

"Ah, yes, take me back, FINALLY I WANT TO GO BACK".

Ben
Day 34

Ben and Greta sat down for breakfast. She wasn’t exactly talkative this morning. Her eyes were a little puffy, too. “Greta, you look like you’ve been crying,” Ben observed.
She shrugged, “I’m afraid, Ben.”
“Of what, pray tell?” he asked with equal parts curiosity and concern. Greta looked over her shoulder and looked back to Ben. She bit her lip. “What is it, Greta?” he asked suspiciously.
“I’ve been contacted by some people from the outside. I don’t know how they got into our network.”
“By who?”
“He said his name is Abaddon, and he’s coming for us.”

Matthew Abaddon is back again, Ben thought. He sauntered down the hallway leading to the White Room when he stumbled over an unconscious guard near the bathroom. He looked up quickly and couldn’t see the second guard by the room. Ben jogged over to the White Room, dislodging one of his slippers as he ran. It was empty. He was angry at first, then he shrugged. It would all work out.
He put his slipper back on and walked back upstairs, reading yesterdays’ New York Times that had been procured on their last shipment.
Well, within the next few days, Richard should be taken care of. Goodwin was still an issue at the Orchid, and his man had apparently been captured. Ben would have to take care of that himself, he supposed.
“Ben, where’s Greta?” Beatrice asked him urgently.
“What do you mean? We had breakfast about two hours ago. She was supposed to go upstairs and work on the restructuring. Why?”
“She disappeared. She looked put out when I saw her going down the corridor. I ran to catch up to her, and she was gone.”
“Gone?”
“Gone,” she confirmed.
“My, my,” Ben answered, growing concerned. He amended his plans for the day. Flame first, then the Orchid.

(This was meant for the last day)

"Jin?"
"Desmond."
"Glad to see you're okay. No hard feelings, right?"

Greta and Karl had disappeared into the building leaving the two of them alone. Jin went to follow them, passing by Des without anyother word. Des quickly grabbed his arm and tried to pull him back.

'Hold on, hold on. I'm sorry about the Orchid brotha' tried Desmond.
Jin wasn't listening.
'Come on! If you go in there now, they'll lock you up and then I'll have to rescue you.'
Jin rolled his eyes and shook his arm free from Des's grip.
'No, they want.'
'What do you mean brotha?'
'I'm... well I'm working with them.'
Jin looked down. He knew what was about to come next.
'Hold on!' laughed Des into the jungle. 'You're angry at me because I did something for that plank Goodwin after he put a gun to my head and now you're working with them! Bloody brilliant.'
Des was right.

'I warned you to stay away from Goodwin. I thought I was gonna die in that air vent and the last thing I wanted you to do was trust Goodwin. I wanted you to keep my wife safe. I saved you life and you still didn't-' Jin began walking off towards the Barracks.
'Woh, woh, slow down brotha. What are you talkin' about?' pleaded Des catching up with him.
They were on the edge of the treeline. One more step and the Others would have no trouble seeing Desmond.
'In the subway beneath the Tempest. The shoot-off between Locke, Ana and you and the Others. You charged at them like a mad man and ran out of bullets-'
'And that Other - she was about to kill me-'
'But she didn't because I shot her. I was still up in that air vent.'
Jin was staring at the entrance to the Barracks over Des's shoulder.
There was silence.

'Thank you brotha... I don't know what to say... I wish there was something... WAIT!'
Des gave Jin one of his crazy looks.
'There is something I can do brotha. I can get you and Sun off this island.'
'I can do that without your help-'
'Come on, I've said I'm sorry-'
'No you haven't-'
'Well then 'I'm sorry brotha' but forget about us for a moment. I can get you and your wife off this island. Think about Sun for a minute-'
Jin suddenly pushed Des up against a tree - 'I have been thinking about Sun. Ever since I left her with you int the Tempest! One of their people is going to get me and Sun off this island if I kill their boss. If I have to play my part in their little coup, then so be it.'
'Aye and you can trust this man I suppose? And how is he getting you off this island exactly?'
'He has a submarine-'
'Not anymore.' The voice appeared suddenly. Greta had returned from the Barracks and was standing beside them. Jin let go of Desmond.
'Your friend John Locke blew it up.'
Jin couldn't believe it. He ahd wasted all this time...
'I wanted to tell you but Ben made me swear not to,' she explained, 'He thinks they'll have it up and running within the year though...'
'The year!' gasped Jin desperately, walking off into the jungle and rubbing his hand over his head.
Des jogged after him as Greta seemed distracted by some people now leaving the Barracks.
'Brotha would you please just listen to me,' whispered Desmond grabbing Jin's arm for the second time that day. 'We've got a balloon brother, a hot air balloon. We're goin to use it to escape.'
Jin looked up to see that Desmond's eyes were both serious and honest.
'But-'
'Pipe down, they'll be here any second. There's not enough room on this balloon unfortunately..'
'I thought you said-' began Jin but he was interupted again.
'WE are going to be on that balloon brotha. Sun too. When the time comes, we'll take care of anyone who tries to stop us.'
Desmond looked intently at Jin. Jin nodded.
'You have to leave now brotha. Go get Sun.'
Jin turned to leave when he suddenly stopped. Des knew what he was going to say.
'Aye, save the hugs and kisses for later. Take it as a form of payback for saving my life brotha.'
Jin smiled and then disappeared into the jungle as Greta, now joined by Artz and Karl, appeared on the scene.

Miles, Episode XXXIV-I, A New Hope

I can't believe he's done it. He frakking got us out. Maybe there is more to this guy than I thought. Hell of a speech, too.

"Hey, Karl-- I've got to get something done before we go to the balloon. Do you know where I can find a young black kid named Walt?"

"Oh that kid-- he's over on the other island, near the Hydra station. We've been tracking him, too."

"There's another island? How do you figure I'm supposed to get there?"

"Oh, there's a subway system that connects us there. Come over here, I'll show you a map."

Karl led Miles to a small table in the nearest office space that showed a miniscule subway map. "Just follow the red track and you'll get to the Hydra station on the other island. It's probably about a three hour walk, so be sure to leave yourself enough time to get back to the Swan. That's where the balloon is."

Miles needed more specifics. "Hey Arzt, when is this ship setting sail?"

"As soon as possible... you realize, though, that we're going on a hot air balloon, not a boat."

Miles buried his face in his palms. "Of course, Dr. Literal McObvious. Can you be more specific? Can you give me until sundown tomorrow?"

Arzt nodded his head, although it may have been a nervous tick. That was all the assurance Miles needed, and he thanked Karl and Arzt for their assistance as he walked toward the subway with purpose. "I'll see you near the Swan by sundown tomorrow. You two grab Greta and Ben," he yelled over his shoulder as he made his way down the hall.

Miles scooted down the hallway and took an inventory. I need a weapon. He found the guard knocked unconscious by Desmond earlier, pistol still in hand, starting to awaken. The guard opened his eyes long enough to see Miles deliver a knockout punch to the temple, and laid motionless again. Now relieved of his gun and ammo, he would sleep easier, at least until the gas made him sleep permanently. OK, weapon, check. Radio, check. I'll need it to contact Matthew once we get off this rock. Food and water... Miles looked in a refrigerator in a nearby kitchenette and found a couple of bottles of water and half of a leftover ham sandwich. Beggars can't be choosers...

Supplied, Miles made his way down to the subway station, and found that only the security lights were working. Awesome. A three hour walk in the dark that I get to make again with a scared ten year old. Abbadon had better be paying me double when I get back.

CHARLES WIDMORE

Day 34
Entry 1

Charles Widmore returned to the penthouse suite he was staying at while in Bermuda. He carried with him a stack of binders. He set them down on the table not noticing the small droplets of blood spattered on their spines, then he walked off to the kitchen to pour himself a glass of MacCutcheon. The men at the offices of Bermuda’s Maritime Operations and Seaport Security were right. There was no submarine in port. But Charles never intended on piloting one anyway. He had no knowledge of such things, yet his many philanthropical exploits did yield an obscure knowledge of some trans-Atlantic checkpoint protocols.

“I’ve got to hand it to you Benjamin...” he said while thinking aloud, “You almost had me fooled.” He then raised his glass in the air as if to make a toast and said “Thanks to you and Mittlewerk’s phony translation, you helped lead me to discover something quite unexpected.” With that he took a big shot of whisky.

A couple of contradicting points in the translation of the Black Rock Ledger had made Charles realize he’d been duped. At first it really stuck in his craw that that little weasel had the advantage in finding the island, but then the information he had just uncovered helped put him at ease. No one, not even Benjamin Linus, could ever fully unlock the potential of that sacred place, under the given circumstances.

Bermuda served as a central hub for most trans-Atlantic submersive travel. It was protocol that Submarines departing from either North America or Europe were to check in to refuel and supply before heading to their next checkpoint. Charles was now in possession of an archive of logs. Logs that catalogued every trip over the past ten years. If a submarine had left port from anywhere in North America or Europe over the last ten years, then there would be a record of it within the binders. And If there was one thing Charles did know to be accurate about the translation, it was that travel to and from the island could only be carried out safely via submarine. He had suspected on a whim to find a clue in these logs, anything that may provide a lead. He got more than he bargained for.

He had the page bookmarked. He flipped it open to take one more look, just to be sure that the information was real. There it was...

The Adventures Of Nicole And Her New Mother-Like Figure, Ana Lucia

"Hey! Ana, hey! Wake up dude."
Ana was startled and quickly sat up. She rubbed her eyes, yawned and opened them.
There stood the big guy, Hurley.
"Dude, she's awake." Hurley shouted back.
Ana looked next to her and Nicole wasn't there.
"Where's Nic-"
"The little chick. Don't worry. She's over with the guys, getting some breakfast."
Ana stood up and looked over to see 3 other men, and sure enough Nicole, who was eating some dharma crackers.

Ana put on her jumper and walked over to the group.
"Hey" said the black man.
Ana had seen him a few times before, but they hadn't talked much.
Ana shook his hand. His name was Michael.
Ana introduced herself to the other men, whose names were Gabe and Nathan.
Ana looked down at the water to see the raft they travelled on.
"Took ye long enough" she smirked.
Nathan looked at her.
"To tell you the truth, we didn't even know you were here."
Ana was confused, but Nicole asked the question before she could.
"Then, why did you come here?"
Michael looked at Nicole.
"Who are you anyway?"
"She's with me" Ana defended her.
Michael nodded.
Ana asked the question once more.
"Why are you guys here?"
"We're here to rescue someone else" Nathan said.

The entire island seemed to understand how important it was for Jin to get back to Sun. Trees seemed to leap out of his way, ditches shrunk so he could vault over them without slowing down, a multi-coloured bird flew after him just above the treetops, watching over him.
'We're going home' he screamed inside his head.
The wind roared behind him, driving him along his path home.
'Finally leaving this place behind. She deserves to be happy.'
A river suddenly appeared before him but a useful set of stones let him hop across without much effort. He was getting closer.
'Richard thinks I've joined his cause. Benjamin Linus thinks I'm working for him. And now Desmond offers me a place on a balloon!' the words bounced around his head like fireworks.
'Three weeks ago, it seemed all hope was lost. But now, NOW! Here I am with three tickets home! Richard and Ben both had the submarine up their sleaves. But now everything's changed. I can forget these Others! I can finally leave Richard and Bernard and the entire mess that is my past, on this island. We can finally be free!'

'You really believe these people followed my message to the island?' asked Danielle. The group of six had continued travelling after taking a short break beside a creek some time that afternoon. There seemed to be dozens of these little rivers popping up, the further they climbed the mountain upon which sat the radio tower.
'I do,' answered Jack 'And there's enough people causing problems on this island without a bloodthirsty militia joining us.'
They both glanced back at Richard.
'This is true,' replied Danielle.

'So you're a doctor?' asked Sawyer.
'Yes,' replied Juliet.
'How much do you charge for a check-up?'
'My interests are more gynecological James,' she smiled.
'Now there's another thing we have in common.'

'Have any plans for the weekend Mr. Jarrah?'
Richard's voice was charged with sarcasm.
Sayid didn't respond.
'No? How about the week after? Week after that?'
'Your point?' If it would get him to stop talking, Sayid was willing to relpy.
'Oh no reason. I'm just curious as to what your plans are, you know, for the rest of your life. You don't honestly think you're ever leaving this island, do you?'
'These mercenaries found the island. It's only a matter of time before others do, others who will rescue us.'
'But you're turning off the signal? However will they find you?'
Sayid went quiet again.
'You know I can help you Sayid,' Richard's voice had quietened somewhat.
Sayid remained quiet.
'You did work for me once. Just over a month ago in fact. Or have you forgotten the last job I gave you?'
Danielle and Jack glanced back at Richard for a second. Sayid stared into Jack's eyes.
'There's no need to take the moral high ground. You wouldn't be the first of your survivors to come over to our side Sayid.'
Sayid paused for a moment.
'Who?'
Those three little letters appeared to be a password. The trees around them suddenly started to move. Something was rapidly approaching.

The last few days have been weird. Real weird. I miss Dad. A lot. I really love him a lot, too. Like, seriously, if I loved him any more I think I'd be a girl. For real. I really love him. If he were here, he'd know what to do.

I don't really know why I ran off again. Maybe I just felt sorry for Dad, always chasing after me. He's got a lot of other things to worry about now, and I don't want to be trouble.

I'm really glad this island has so many mangoes. I'd be pretty hungry if it wasn't for them. I don't like mangoes that much, especially not when compared to Dad (who I love), but compared to pretty much any food out there now. I've eaten mangoes for four days. I wonder what Dad was eating...

I bet Dad is with that Desmond guy, and they're like, lighting a signal fire or something. But how do I get to them?

If I was a bird, I could fly to them. That would be awesome! But I can't fly. I'm just a kid (who loves his dad) who's eaten nothing but mangoes for almost a week. I wish could fly.

A small parrot landed in a tree near Walt, and cawed loudly.

"Screw you, bird. I'm going to die here, because I can't fly like you. I hope you die."

The parrot, in mid caw, fell to the ground.

Ben reached the Flame quickly. He was nervous as he walked. At times, he thought he heard things, which wasn't uncommon for the island. What was uncommon was that those said things made him uncomfortable.
He checked the door that he had taped shut with some masking tape. Ben confirmed that no one had come or gone since his last visit by that entrance at least. He entered the throne room. He had trouble concentrating, and for once, his counting game failed him.
He loaded up the news reels and found little interesting. He scanned some of the search engines that had hints and legends of the island on certain sites. Ben himself planted the legends years ago, and folks like Widmore frequented them for more information about the island. Ben could search through Widmore's searches and determine what Charles was up to. Today, he hoped to do the same to Abaddon. However, his search proved unnecessary.
"Good morning, Mr. Linus," his voice said to Ben through one of the computer screens.
”What have you done? Where is Greta?” Ben asked, directing his voice at a computer screen.
“She has been taken care of,” the tall bald black man responded on the other end of the phone line.
“You killed her? I hadn’t realized that the game had moved to that level.”
The black man smiled in genuine amusement. “She is not dead. But she will not be helping you.”
Ben paused to consider. What did this mean? He needed her. “You have made an enemy today, sir.”
Another smile. “We have stood in opposition for a long time, Benjamin. You just did not know it,” the man said as he shuffled some objects on the desk in front of him. He finished doing whatever he was doing and looked into the camera with a threatening glimmer in his black eyes. “Are you coming for me then?”
Ben considered. Was it necessary? “I have no plans to. But I would be happy to meet.”
“Then we shall. Sooner than you should think.”

The screen went blank, and Ben was puzzled. He felt out of control, and that was not a feeling he was accustomed to. He decided to hike back to the Barracks overland, then travel to the Orchid to take care of Goodwin and the gas. He still couldn't shake the thought that something wasn't right. Then he heard it: The Security System.
Ben had no choice but to sprint. He wasn't prepared for this. The monster roared as trees were uprooted nearby. As far as Ben knew, no one else was in the area. He sprinted. He was closing in on the sonar fence.
He pulled out his walkie talkie, "Mikhail, are you available?" he panted.
About fifteen seconds - an eternity - later, a Russian accent answered, "Yes."
"Can you access the fence controls. Quickly?" Ben demanded.
"Yes."
"Then do so on my mark," he said as he was knocked off of his feet and thrown down a gully that led to a clearing outside of the fence. Behind the fence was the Barracks.
Streams of black smoke rushed into the clearing about twenty yards away, threatening to come between Ben and the fence. Ben turned and rushed into the forest as the smokey cloud pursued by entering the forest again.
For 5 seconds, Ben planted himself under a bush that was on the far side of the monster, and the monster rushed past him. As it passed, Ben scampered out from under the bush and hissed into the walkie - "NOW!" He ran at top speed, confident that Mikhail would succeed, and he did. The fence came down just as the Smoke Monster turned in pursuit. Ben dove through what would have been the barrier, and rolled over to one of the pylons. He rapidly typed in the code, and the monster slammed into the sonar fence and screamed in anger.
After several seconds of catching his breath, the smoke monster had not moved. It simply hovered outside the fence. It had the appearance of a caged animal, pacing back and forth. "What was that about?" Ben asked out loud. "What have I done? I seek to serve the island!"
The smoke formed up into the shape of Richard, who looked through the fence at Ben and said, "Do not raise your hand against the annointed one."
"The island rejected Richard!" Ben shouted angrily.
"But it has not chosen you to replace it. Not now."
"I'm the only one who can protect it. You know that."
"Does it look like it needs protecting? Or is it just you you are seeking to protect?" the Richard doppleganger answered as it faded away.
Stuff like this was NOT going to happen when Ben was running things. Not on his island.

The entire Radio6 braced themselves. Was it the smoke monster? Another polar bear?

'Jin!?' shouted Jack unbelievably.

'Oh crap' thought Jin. This was the last thing he needed.
Then he saw Richard.
'Oh crapety, crap.' This really was the last thing he needed.

'You are alive?' said Sayid in awe, stepping towards him.
'Save the pillowtalk for later - what the heck are you running from? Is something chasing you?' Sawyer repositioned his gun and started looking into the direction Jin had come from.

'What am I to do?' he thought. 'Richard will expect me to save him... not right now of course, he'd still want the others to trust me.. but that would mean I'd have go wherever it is they were going... there's no time... Sayid thought I was dead... I can't just run off... But so did Sun... I can't tell them about the balloon... Desmond said there wasn't enough room... pretend everything is alright...LIE!'

'Jin?' repeated Jack.

'No. I don't think anyone is chasing me,' he turned his attention towards Sayid, 'Mikhail came to the Flame when you had left.' Jin could see Richard looking on anxiously, guessing how much Jin was going to tell. He continued, 'I was knocked out and then next thing I knew I was in the Barracks with Artz and Desmond.'
'What? They have Desmond locked up?'
'They had. With some other guy I didn't know. Don't worry, we escaped. Artz had some gun of some sort. But the Others came after us and we got seperated. We agreed to meet back at the Swan. I was just heading there... Is Sun okay?'
Sayid nodded, 'She's making pancakes.'
'That's not a good sign...' mumbled Jin and then he turned his attention to Jack and Sawyer, 'Last time I saw you, you were heading to another island. Did you get homesick?'
'Yeah, our accomadation was a bit cramped for our liking,' smiled Jack.
'And who are they?'
' Who? Captain Jack and Elizabeth Swan? It seems Richard here is their leader and Juliet is his gynacolgist,' snarled Sawyer to an altogether unimpressed Richard.
'You don't say?' gasped Jin in mock surprise. Richard was not enjoying this. Jin was.
'Your scar has healed adequately,' added Rousseau.
'My memory's back too. All I'm waiting for now is the rest of my hair... I never got to thank you properly for all your help Ms. Rousseau.'
'C'etait rien... Will you be joining us?' she replied as hearitly as she could.
Richard looked on eagerly. Jin wasn't sure whether Richard wanted him to come or not He took enjoyment from seeing his old friend in such a quandry.
'And where are you going?'
'To the radio tower, to turn off my signal. Apparently it is attracting undesirbales to our island.'
'I see...'

Day 34-1 – The Tools of an Arztist

Karl and his dad has spent the night outside of the Barracks. They heard the commotion of the monster chasing Ben, and they decided to check it out. They got there to see the Smoke Monster venting it’s rage against the fence, and then transform into Richard. They couldn’t hear their conversation.

“Dad, we need to get out of here,” Karl warned. “Unless you got another one of those rod thingees?” he asked hopefully.

“We won’t need one,” Arzt smiled as he began walking towards the clearing. Smokey, however, faded away and drifted in the other direction. Ben turned and walked back into the Barracks. Arzt ran towards the exiting tendrils of smoke, and Karl followed him nervously. They ran for about a minute and a half and were startled to run into, “Desmond!” Arzt stammered, unsure if it was really him.

Des turned and smiled. “Aye, Brotha. We ready to go?”

“Linus is in the Barracks. I’m getting ready to go get him. But I was hoping for some help.”

Karl shook his head, “Dad, can’t we just leave? You don’t wanna mess with Ben, man. You’re gonna need more than me and this guy to get one on Ben Linus.”

“You haven’t left yet,” a voice said, and the trio turned to see a man wearing a Mr. Cluck’s jersey enter the clearing. At the moment, his attention was focused completely on Arzt.

Karl shivered and drew behind his father. Arzt prepared to answer when Desmond said, “Who the bloody hell are you?”

The man looked to Desmond, Arzt, and Karl, and looked back to Arzt, “He must not leave,” he said menacingly.

Des raised his rifle and pointed it at the man’s chest. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, brotha, but you best me making sense soon, or you’ll have a bullet for your trouble.”

The man answered by fading into black smoke and leaving with a howl. As it left, several trees and rock were blown away in its wake.

As Des and Karl began to question what just happened, Arzt commanded simply, “Son, get us into the Barracks. We need to get to Linus.”

Miles, Day XXXIV-II, The Miles Strikes Back

It was strange that some places still gave Miles the heebie-jeebies. After all, here he was, a hardened mercenary who had been left for dead more than once only to bounce back better than ever-- but subway tunnels opened the door to so many, many more bad possibilities. All it would take would be a water main break causing a flood, the electricity to start working and a car zoom by, and that would be it. Or hell, if that smoke thing showed up, what would happen? Too much uncertainty down here, and too much time on his hands to think about it.

It had been a long walk, but it passed without incident. The ham sandwich was not tasty at all, and in fact, he had left part of it behind. But, finally, he reached his destination. Miles walked up the steps to the entrance to the Hydra station, and peered through the doors-- there was a guard with his back turned, and he appeared to be speaking to someone around the corner. Wait... Miles noticed an earpiece attached to a small, white device. An IPod?

Miles opened the door which creaked horribly loudly, but the sentry took no notice. Miles heard the guard belting out, in his best Brad Delp, "It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to plaa-aaa-aaay..."

You've got to be kidding me. Boston on his IPod? What's next, Fleetwood Mac? Maybe some Roy Orbison? This dude needs to be put out of his misery. Miles snuck up behind the guard and put him in a perfectly executed rear naked choke. After a few seconds of struggle, which knocked the IPod to the floor, the guard dropped, unconscious.

Miles looked for the nearest utility closet, and drug the dead weight into the small room. He quickly grabbed the IPod from the floor, and used it's wires to bind the man. He then quickly scanned the contents-- Go Your Own Way? Blinded By The Light? How long has this dude been here? I thought they killed everyone here in the 80's! Finally, One by Metallica. Miles placed the earbuds back in the unconscious man's ears. "Here my man, listen to some REAL music."

Miles began to exit the closet, but saw two women passing by. Miles quickly ducked back into the closet, and as they passed by he overheard their conversation.

"I can't believe that message we got on the computers this morning."
"I know! Who does that guy think he is, saying he's coming for us?"
"He said his name was Matthew Audobon or something? Maybe he's a bird-watcher?"

The women giggled as they passed about Abbadon's name, not realizing that Abbadon was actually one of the destroyers of mankind in the Revelation. While I'm here, I need to get to a computer. If Abbadon can get to them, then I can get a message to him.

The Walt, Day 34-2

It's really been scary out here. I had to climb a tree once when a polar bear came after me. I'm just thankful it was a mango tree that had a real nice place to sleep. The bear went away in the morning. It was real weird-- my teachers always said you only find polar bears at the North Pole, by Santa... wait, by where I used to think Santa lived, but now **SPOILERS** I know that it's really Santa and his elves that live there in this big self-sufficient community. **END SPOILERS**

That was really weird what happened with that parrot too. It's like, I wished he was dead, and then he was. What a weird condenscence, or however you say it. I bet Dad knows what word I'm thinking of.

Well, the good news is there's a grown up lady over in that clearing. I know that they teach in school if I'm lost, to go to a lady and not a guy, and I don't think there's any police officers out here, so she's probably the safest stranger I can talk to.

"Hey lady!" Walt yelled from his tree branch, and he waved his hands at her.

The woman looked around, and saw Walt waving his hands. "Oh my goodness, look at you! You look so tired and scared? Come on down, child. Are you hungry?"

Walt knew he had made a good choice, and he hopeed out of the tree and started walking toward the woman. "Yeah, I'm starving."

"You poor, poor thing. Why don't you come back to my home and we'll get you fed and cleaned up. Right this way, son."

Walt walked ahead of the woman in the direction she pointed, and then felt a pinch in his shoulder. He did not even have time to turn around before he blacked out and fell to the ground.

The woman dropped the syringe on the ground and radioed her home base. "Relay a message to Mr. Alpert: We have the boy."
