NOTE: Most photos/images can be clicked on for larger viewing  2008 Nest Adoption Challenge The Cruzers adopted SEVEN nests (over $7,000 donated) in 2006 and adopted EIGHTEEN nests (over $18,000 donated) in 2007, in support of the Institute for Wildlife Studies (IWS) and their Bald Eagle Restoration Project! Some of the monies have made it possible for us to now watch SR nest (TR if the eagles hadn't moved their nest) and provided us with great internet feed and SOUND!  WE Chick - SR Nest - Peter/banding - PH w/Cruz - PH Nest - WE Chick Cruzers and Forum Visitors can participate in "Adopt-A-Nest" beginning today-April 20 thru June 29, 2008! You can give once - twice - or as often as your heart allows! The Cruzers have dedicated themselves to supporting the monumental efforts of IWS and are hosting the 2008 Nest Adoption Challenge - each $1,000 raised adopts a Channel Island Nest! Is there a way you can help make a difference? Yes - every single donation adds up and together, we can adopt one nest! And what is a Cruzer - it is anyone who watches the nests and loves the Channel Island Eagles! How about two - maybe three - even more nests - ! There are several ways that you can make your contribution-: 1. Visit IWS.org by clicking on this link Make a Contribution NOTE: If you pay thru Pay Pal, you must select a quantity to represent your total amount (it allows for $5.00 increments) 2. You can mail checks to: Institute for Wildlife Studies - PO BOX 2500 - Avalon CA 90704 3. Credit card information can be emailed to Peter Sharpe, Ph.D. at IWS: sharpe@iws.org or called directly to Dr. Sharpe at: 310-510-2728 NOTE: Just be sure to indicate "Cruzer Nest Adoption Challenge" and provide the following information: Your REAL name / your FORUM name / your home mailing address / your email address You DO NOT have to be a forum member to contribute - any visitor to the forum, any observer of the nests, any lover of Eagles - you are all welcome to help support the IWS effort! For each nest that the Cruzers adopt (each $1,000 raised), the package will be distributed in 3 parts to 3 individuals: i. an adoption certificate and photo of the chick(s) -or- ii. a 4-5 hour tour for 3 people of Catalina Island and the IWS facilities -or- iii. an invitation for three people to visit the Catalina IWS facility to see eagle chick(s) before they are fostered into a nest (mid-March/mid-April 2009).** *** Each person who contributes towards this nest adoption challenge will be entered into a drawing to receive one of the adoption benefits. The more nests that are adopted, the more packages that will be distributed.  ** If IWS does not hatch chicks in 2009, then an alternate prize will be provided. ================================================  With the costs mounting for the care of Skye and Spirit - flight, medical care, surgeon, hacking set up, staffing, facility charges - the 2008 Nest Adoption Challenge final date to participate has been extended to June 29, 2008 with the drawing to start immediately after by Dr. Peter Sharpe. 2008 Nest Adoption Challenge - Part II Besides monetary donations, credit will also be given for the following - but you must request 2008 Nest Adoption credit at time of purchase: A----If you are "purchasing" a new OR renewing your IWS membership, Peter has advised: "I apply the tax-deductible portion of any contribution or membership to the Cruzers if they specify they are part of the Cruzers." NOTE: CHIL or IWS Forum memberships are FREE and allow you to post and chat! IWS Supporting Membership is a financial supporting memebership with the IWS organization. B----If you are sponsoring a Cam feed during the Challenge, you can have the tax deductible portion credited. C----If you purchase merchandise from IWS.org , you can have the tax deductible portion credited - and the items includes IWS sweatshirt and T-shirt, hat, wing bling, Cumbrian DVD and more!   *Through no fault of their own, the bald eagle has suffered in the past from the efforts of man trying to discover a better life - pesticides for better crop production/eliminate bugs; power transmission lines/air conditioning, big screen TVs; building homes and businesses where no one else has gone before/habitat encroachment, etc.  ** It's time to turn the tide and restore the delicate balance of nature ----------------------- give the Bald Eagle back it's life - give this chick a chance! ***  I and others, have been lucky enough to visit Catalina and Santa Cruz and see the efforts of the IWS Bald Eagle Restoration Project. It is tremendous and takes many years to see results, just as it took many years for the bald eagles to come to the crisis that that they are now in! there should be a "button/title" that says: Add special instructions for the Merchant - when you click on it - a box will open and you can put that you want it credited to 2008 Adoption (or you can send an email to Dr. Sharpe and tell him you made a purchase/donation/whatever the case may be, thru paypal and that you want ti credited to 2008 Adoption! |
