Hi everybody, We have spotted A32 and K93 spending quite some time by the burnt area. We don’t know what they could possibly find so attractive in this place since it’s really bare or why they would prefer this area to the reservoir but we’ll try to find out. Over the weekend Pete and I loaded up the kayaks and took them to Two Harbors. We kayaked equipment across Catalina Harbor to get them closer to our trail and eventually up to the nest. Loading up the kayaks with batteries, solar panels and other camera equipment. ![]() I highlighted our landing area and part of the hike up. The arrow points to the TH nest. ![]() A couple of days later we hiked more equipment up to the nest and Pete also carried the 60lb. batteries and 2 solar panels we had kayaked the other day. I highlighted parts of our trail going through a dense cactus patch. ![]() Pete, looking for a potential spot to place a second camera by one of the eagles’ favorite roosting trees ![]() We will be working on the cameras some more this week so you’ll probably see us pop up on the TH cam soon. We have a short window in which to refurbish the cams during the off-season so that we do not disturb the eagles and there’s a lot of work ahead of us! Pimu and Hydi are doing great. No more snakes have been found in their cages since the last time but I always keep my eyes (and ears) peeled in case they decide to pay us a close visit. Until next time, Steffani |
