<::: <::: <::: <::: NAC will end on June 3, 2011

SPECIAL NOTES: If you are selected in the drawings at the end of the NAC, you can pick to name a chick in one of the nests if not already individually adopted by anyone else......... Thank you Dr. Sharpe for this opporunity!

ALSO: If you donate at least $25 - you will receive a bonus: you will be able to adopt the nest of your choice and receive a color photo and certificate

AND: Dr. Sharpe will be providing an incubated "fake" egg from a bald eagle nest from the time that IWS was incubating/hatching the eggs to assist the eagles as part of the restoration project as one of the items you can choose in the NAC drawings!

Remember - you have to be in it to win it and every single penny does indeed count!

2011 Nest Adoption Challenge - April 4 - June 3, 2011

The Cruzers adopted SEVEN nests (over $7,000 donated) in 2006, adopted EIGHTEEN nests (over $18,000 donated) in 2007, adopted THIRTY-NINE nests ($39,333.00 raised) in 2008, adopted TWENTY nests ($20,157.00) in 2009 and continuing their effort - they again adopted TWENTY nests ($20,000), in support of the Institute for Wildlife Studies (IWS) and their Bald Eagle Restoration Project! Some of the monies have made it possible for us to watch several bald eagle nests, with an upgraded internet feed, adding sound and now 24 hour live feed on the West End and Two Harbors cameras!

In their collective efforts, the Cruzers and eagle friends, have adopted 104 nests and donated over $104,000.00 !!

Just a gentle reminder that forum protocols do not permit us to discuss the Fundraiser in the CHIL forum. We would be happy to answer any questions here at the IWS Eagle Forum.

The Channel Islands came to life and supported life, providing homes to the bald eagle. But many years later, some decisions that were made and actions that were taken, proved to be the downfall of these soaring raptors. IWS took on the daunting task of studying the dilemma, trying to develop a plan to return the eagles to the islands and the skies and to educate the world.

Posted Image

The biologists made a bold decision, bringing young eagles to the islands to be hacked, hoping against hope that some would return as adults, establish nests and rear their young - repopulating the islands once again. They hiked endless canyons and ridges to search out the eagles and the nests, doing whatever needed to be done to help the eagles have a chance to survive and come home again.

Posted Image

And then came the Cruzers - watching that single, lone chick growing in that nest at the very top of a tree on Santa Cruz Island. The many, many people watching the online camera feed, named her Cruz. This was the "birth" of the Cruzers! They too came together, again and again, to help the IWS biologists help the eagles - posting nest observations, reaching out when eaglets have been in danger and in need of help, providing specialized equipment and helping support the camera program which assists the biologists in the massive amount of field work that is required of them.

Posted Image

There have been many ups and there have been many downs but we will all continue to work together - one nest at a time! Tomorrow is just around the corner and what we have learned, we need to be sure to share with those that follow behind us - the Cruzers of today and the future!

Posted Image

Together we can make a difference. Thank you for your support of the IWS Eagle Project to help the bald eagles of the Channel Islands.

See first post above, to take the first step - thank you ......... <3
