First, a warning. If you haven't read the book or don't want to be spoiled then leave now. This is a thread for discussing the novel and is likely to include spoilers, both major and minor.

So...you've read the book, gotten to the end of the last chapter of the Harry Potter series...what did you think? Was it satisfying? Disappointing? Everything you hoped for? What was your favourite part?

If you've got something to say about the final Harry Potter book or the series as a whole then this is the place for you.

***SPOILER***

It almost seems as if J.K. Rowling was living during the second world war. The book is so much about resistance, tyranny and corruption. I like it, beside some annoying details but my favourite so far is The Order of the Phoenix

I was on line for the midnight selling of the book. (I was wake so I figured why the heck not?) Was anyone else crazy enough to do that?

Nope, I bought the book the next day. It's my second favorite. My favorite will always be Order of the Phoenix.
Greatest Idea Ever.

A Captain Planet movie done in the dark, gritty, more-realistic style of the Dark Knight. With a romance subplot and "edgy" political undertones.

***SPOILER***

I nearly cried after the final chapter and the epilogue.
Emotion, yet peace.
Ignorance, yet knowledge.
Passion, yet serenity.
Chaos, yet harmony.
Death, yet the Force.

I liked the book overall, but I got annoyed by the number of times harry got himself caught, or in a sticky situation. It was sooo many times.

I also thought the epilogue could have been better.

Isn't it kinda odd, Snape showed Harry the spell that defeated Voldy (although it had some help).

I thouroughly enjoyed it... it slowed down in the middle, but more than made up for it in the end... I could have done without the Epilogue I guess, but it was still nice to see everyone happy and whatnot.

The section where Harry walks to the Forest awaiting his death is PHENOMONAL - wow... he can't even say bye to the ones he loves. So self-less. Amazing. I thought one of the big three would die, though... but wow, she didn't mind killing people off did she? Lavender Brown... falls off the stairwell and then a werewolf lunges on her and bites into her neck. YESSS!

Goodluck to the filmmaker attempting this one. I'd go with Cauron, personally (director of Azkaban), but it seems so epic it might require Peter Jackson! jk :)

I too, enjoyed Order of the Phoenix the best... the middle section of Hallows was so depressing I thought I'd need therapy after reading the whole book! ;)

Seth Draze will die, much like Lavender Brown.

By werewolf?! :o

I enjoyed thoroughly how Dumbledore always said that love would defeat Voldemort and it turned out that because of Snape's love for Harry's mom Voldemort didn't get the power of the wand. It was a very well done way of showing whose side Snape was truly on. Order of the Phoenix ftw!

SPOILERS****

I donna know...
Lots of people died, but it was still a good book.
I was rooting for Voldemort the WHOLE book, shame he lost.
I also though Snape was really a bad guy...
I hate being wrong...

Meh, I didn't like the appearance of Deus Ex Machina in the form of the Deathly Hallows. It annoyed me, another mediocre plot device.

The book seemed to be a little slow in the middle, but picked up in the Epilogue.

Also, the way it kills off people is.... kinda of a bit dumb. Killing people just for the sake of darkness is stupid.

Never the less, its a decent book, just not the best one. But, my favorite book is Goblet Of Fire.

Same here, I don't understand the (^&*SPOILERS*&^) part when Nagini the snake = that old lady Harry and Hermione visit. Actually I do, it's just...stupid. If you know what I mean.

I thought that part was actually really crazy. As in creepy, man. Good book, but I hated the epilouge as it was really cliched and too traditional. I liked everything...except that epilouge... :)

The epilouge was too predictable, it wasn't really Harry Potter in that part, just an ordinairy book.

I finally finished the book, none of the deaths really affected me, but Aberforth's story about Ariana kind of choked me up (That's not laughing)
