The Original ROTJ Ending; (ROTJ - Return of the Jedi)

 Gary Kurtz outlines the original "Return of the Jedi" ending.

No teddy bears... heroic sacrifices... heck, I'm all up for this type of ending, and it would have made Return of the Jedi a "much" better film; a film that could have potentially been better then Empire Strikes Back (which I consider to be the best Star Wars film so far).

So what are your opinions? Would you have preferred this "dark" ending? Or do you prefer the current RotJ ending? Discuss!

 I have to say that this ending is definitely a darker ending. On the one hand I prefer NOT having ewoks in this movie, but on the other hand I like seeing the force spirits of Yoda, Anakin and Obi-wan at the ending. Maybe this ending would fit, and when things seem difficult (Han dead, Leia struggling with her duties) Luke still sees the spirits of the jedi, like a message ''everything's gonna be OK''.
I prefer the dark ending, but why not keep the force spirits? :P

 I disagree with the ending here. I don't think the Star Wras saga as a whole should end in a dark way. It is a story about redemption amaong other things and to end the whole series like that would have been drastically out-of-place.

I think it ended perfectly the way it is.
