New Forums Announcement: General Discussion

 We don't really have a specific place for site announcements. A lot of the work Vadakin and we, his obedient slaves, do to maintain the site is under the hood, not very noticeable. So when Vadakin (FINALLY) created a new forum that I requested (AGES AGO) for the KOTOR series, similar to the forum for Kaydon's film series, not everyone noticed. So a lot of topics that are intended for the General Discussion forum are still being placed in the individual game forums. Additionally, Vadakin left it up to me to decide the fate of the KOTOR 3 topics, now that its forum has been merged with the MMO forum. Well, I just finished sorting through all that today, and now they are in the General Discussion forum as well. I previously moved all the general KOTOR topics over to that forum. I'm aware of the infinitesimal possibility that I may have missed a small number of these topics.

So, three things things:

1. If you have a topic that is related to KOTOR as a whole, and not specific to an individual game - such as a complaint about the game's engine, or a comparison of elements from both games, or your raving lunatic complaints about the series - place it in The Games -> General Discussion. You can find older topics along these lines - such as my podcast series, the K1 vs K2 debate, modding and other technical tutorials, and so on - here as well.

2. If you have a topic that is about KOTOR 3, place it in The Games -> General Discussion. Keep in mind that there is already a pinned topic explaining where K3 is, and there are already several topics about different aspects of this hypothetical game.

3. If you think you've seen a topic that belongs in The Games -> General Discussion, that isn't there, then inform me immediately via PM and I will look into it. But it's far more likely that you're mistaken, as the chance that I made a mistake while coming through over three years of posts is very low.

Now, getting back to my initial thoughts. There is no official announcement forum, and I think the reason is that when someone has something they want to announce, they go all out and make a new topic for it, with a really catch title that draws the eye and the like. So there's no one topic for announcements, sitting in the site forum, locked, waiting for something worthy to announce. So that means anyone can just come in and announce things if they want to, and create a huge mess for us; if this person announced something here, in this forum, where it doesn't belong, one of us would have to come along and move it to wherever we believe appropriate. But this also means that anyone who does have something of announcement might not know where to announce it.

So if you have an announcement - I mean one that is about the site or really affects the site, such as news of the growing rebellious uprising against our benevolent robotic overlords, or impending InvisionFree downtime, not a release date for some film or game or other that belongs in one of the lower forums - then feel free to PM me, and I'll let you know if I deem it worthy of announcement. If I don't respond, PM Tpiom. If he doesn't respond, don't bother Kaydon or Vadakin or anyone else; they actually have lives. If Tpiom and I don't respond, just post your announcement in Community -> Off Topic, and once we notice it, we'll take care of it if we deem it worthy of announcement here.
