I don't like to try caged game or hang ups, until I am ready to start hunting the pup, and only do it then until the pup starts treeing hard, normally a few times, then just hunt it until it clicks. Good luck. James |

I don't mind taking them with an older dog, until I think they can tree on their own, then just by themselves, they gain more confidence in two trees on their own, than 20 by an older dog imo. |

Did a hang up one more time today. She goes wild! She jumps and barks and bites the tree.Im kinda worried about her messing up her teeth biting the tree the hang up is in.However i did notice her looking "up" in the trees More know when she's in the woods...Im hoping this is the begining of Good things to come! |

I'd say she has had enough of the hangups Ricky. You need to walk he in the woods and let her learn to track hot squirrel tracks and if she trees one shoot them out to her. You can lay a track with a dead squirrel and hang it up to teach her to find them but don't overdo that either. She has it in her to do it natural you just have to wear out leather bringing her to the woods. |

I think it is real important to do like James said and hunt them by theirselves once they start to tree with the other dogs. I have delt with several dogs that have never been singled out good enough and once you do, you would think the dog wasn't a trained dog most of the time. Where as in a group they looked good. Usually a few months by their self will straighten them up though. |

That's prob for the best lol Just once they get going be sure to hunt her if given the chance with some other dogs just so it will get used to it some. The first few Dogs I started were by them selves. Works great, Now days I just get too bored to sit and let a pup be a pup so I have to have something to go with it lol |

Progress report-Snowflake-5 months 1 day old---I really like what im seeing, she is spending alot of time working out trails to and around trees. She will get up on tree after tree and smell and look!I think she on her way to figuring it alllllllllllllllll out! It amazes me to see a young puppy do the things she does. |
