Scibblenauts Posted Image Developer: 5th Cell Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Series: Scribblenauts Platform: Nintendo DS Genre: Emergent, puzzle, action Mode: Single-player, online level sharing Cost: $25-$30 Wi-Fi Compatibility: Yes ESRB Rating: E Introduction Welcome to the world of Scribblenauts! You start off as a boy name Maxwell. At the beginning you have to go through a tutorial, it's easy and just explains the basics. Then you start your adventure. There are two different game play modes, puzzle and action. Each have their own characteristics. Puzzle mode requires you to use your brain, while action requires, well you know, action! There are many secrets in this game, like if you summon a villain and then put a full moon up, he will turn into a werewolf (and kill you). This game also has the option to change the language of the text. The point/money in this game are called "Ollar's". Well there's a place where you can spend your "Ollar's", that's right at the "Ollar Store" :). You can buy Avatars or Songs there. But you can do something else with the "Ollar's", buy new areas with new levels ;) Gameplay This game brings you great game play. Your objective in each level, is to collect a star called a "Starite". The levels range in difficulty, the difficulty is measured in stars (1 Star being Easy to 4 Stars being Hard). At the beginning of every level it gives you a hint. You better memorize it because, they don't tell you again. There are 2 game play modes in the game, Puzzle and Action. Puzzle- In the puzzle mode you try to figure out how to get the "starite". There are numerous way to get it, with the 1000's of items in the game. It can be stuck in a tree. Or Santa might have it? Either way you have to use items to get it. You can cut down the tree with an axe or you can give the axe to a lumberjack and he'll cut it down for ya'! You can give Santa a cookie and he'll repay you with the 'starite"! In any puzzle you can get anything. Action- Now the action mode requires you to do some action. Like you might need to drive a car and rescue a princess, while jumping over shark infested waters. There are many things you can do in this mode. Remember anything is at your hands (Except Copyright/Some Other Companies things, Adult rated things, and Chuck Norris, I tried) There is 10 different areas to play at, with around 22 levels at each stage that equals about 220 different levels to choose from and 1000's of different object to use. Posted Image There is also a "Create a Level" mode where you can design your own level and share over Wi-Fi. It doesn't give you some of the options that are in the regular levels, but you can still be pretty creative and make your own awesome stage. Gameplay: 5/5 Graphics This game has a 2-D style, cartoonish look. I mean it's the DS what do you expect? This game doesn't lag at all, and every thing is made up of basic proportions (Arms Legs, Body, and Head). It's graphic's are definitely one of the better DS game graphics, plus the way the screen moves around is through a side scrolling-type moment. Posted Image Graphics: 4/5 Music and Sound The music is catchy, but won't get stuck in your head. Different track are played depending on the level. It does not play the same track for each level, they're variations on the different stages (Garden, Artic, City, Etc.). Music and Sound: 4/5 Controls This is one of the very, very (veryyy) few flaws in this game. You walk around by touching where ever you want Maxwell to go. Sounds Easy, Right? Well your right and wrong. You cannot, repeat cannot take 1 single step without Maxwell freaking out on you. But if you don't mind this then the controls are ok. You select item by pointing to then then dragging them to where you want them to go. If you want an item all you do is, click on the journal in the upper-right hand corner, and type in or write out what you want. They could have added an option where you can also walk around with the d-pad. Posted Image Controls: 3.5/5 Replay Value Woah, don't even get me started on the Replay Value. Once you have beat the Adventure, it's not over. You can go back and do the levels again, but without using the things you used before. And with Wi-fi your able to download user-created level for you to solve. Sometimes you even forget that there's an actual adventure mode to be conquered! Replay Value: 5/5 (Not my Video) Overall If you like free roam or puzzle game, this is the game for you. Any item is at your disposal, your like God! (P.S. He's in this game to :)) This game will entertain you for a while. The only flaw in my opinion are the controls (moving). But overall this game gets a great score. Overall: 4.3/5 86% Edited by Username, Oct 30 2009, 10:31 PM.
