"Months after our boat had left the city, I came back here. Alone at that time, to see if what rumors we had heard were true. That the city had remained habitable. To my relief, it was so. It looked like a ghost city, now more than before with the few people who were living here now, but I didn't let it stop me from making my way to our former home and made it back here. It hadn't been ransacked, even though we'd run out through the sewers without closing the doors leading to the Mall. It was still our home and I wanted to come back. Even though the Mallrats had been living rather normally, we didn't feel like home. At least, I didn't. I left again, this time closing the exit behind me and began my journey back to my tribe and my son. It took a bit more than two weeks, as I was travelling by land this time. Upon returning to other Mallrats, I had been away for a month. A difficult thing to do it had been, but, holding my baby again, I knew it had been worth the risk and the time spent away, for his future. Some things had changed, more people had left our residence, but most of the Mallrats were still around. I persuaded my tribe for quite a long while - despite the fact that I was back safely and feeling healthy,some people still had a hard time believing it really was safe to come back. Finally, it was decided that people who wanted to return to the city, were going to and the rest would have more time to think things over. Trudy did, she and I with our children were actually the first ones who made it back to the Mall on September 7th 2007. What more? The city is slowly filling up again, I've met quite a few people: Angellie, Linzee, and Jessara to name some of them. It seems that hope is not lost and I'll make sure Phoenix Mall would once again become a place all city dwellers could come when they need help or good company. Keeping The Dream Alive!
