Not positive about where to put this...feel free to delete it if I've misplaced it.

I LOVE photography!! What type camera are you using Jess? I am thinking of investing in one (semi professional quality) before too much longer. These photos are fantastic.

Nice pictures. Do you only do horsey stuff? I ask because there is a lot of stuff on the Coast in need of exploration, and I'm always looking for a partner in photographic crime! LOL

They are gorgeous pics, which I meant to write earlier but was only focused on my own problems at the time. :/

I also meant to ask what software you're using Jess. PS or PSE?

No, that's just all I really have much experience with so far....horses and portraits. It's hard to get out and do different stuff with a coming three year old and a four month old.lol As it is, what I charge for my first hour of the session covers my babysitter.lol

Ruth..neither. For the colorization (color splash, whatever you want to call it), I use GIMP. For everything else, I use Corel. Honestly, I do very little editing. I'm not a "purist" so to speak....but I take lots of pics and cull heavy. So what you get on print, 9 times out of 10, is what I shot. (I will crop sometimes.)

Thanks for the nice comments.

WOW, I'm impressed! GIMP is not the easiest pgm to use. I like/use PSE it's simple enough for me to understand and sophisticated enough to meet my wants/needs. It has been a few years since I looked at GIMP. Does it include any kind of text on a path feature?

Lol...don't be impressed. I'm just learning how to use it through on-line tutorials. It does have the text along path....but I've not figured out how to use it yet. I would've got PS, but I'm tightwadded and just couldn't justify spending the money on it right now. Maybe eventually.

Beautiful work Jess! I minored in photography in college (art major) and wish that I had paid better attention to how to use the aperture and f-stop settings. I always keep it on program. ha, ha One of these days I want to take classes and actually pay attention this time!

I'd LOVE to have PS, but I can't justify the expense either. Actually, I'm pretty happy w/PSE, but I do wish Adobe would add the text-on-a-path feature like the one in PS.

If you're interested in PSE at all (it may be too simple for you since you're using GIMP), you may soon find PSE7 for under $30. Adobe just released PSE8. The stores usually have a big blowout sale on the previous year's edition when that happens. From what I've seen, there's not a lot of difference between versions 7 and 8.

Jess, what lens are you using?

I'm looking at a Canon camera, body only, for a little under $500.
Need a good 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.

Dang, camera body and the LENS I need is a total of $1,812.95 with the lens being the majority of the purchase! :D :D
