Save the babies from the bees in the bizarre Insects in Space, chosen by Merman for week 5. Download: http://gamebase64.hardabasht.com/games/i/INSECTS_03779_01.zip You are St Helen, charged with protecting the babies living in the Rhineland from bizarre alien insects. There are two planet surfaces, the "top" and the "bottom". The alien bees will attempt to abduct babies from the surface. When they reach maximum height they will drop the baby and transform into a fast-moving fly. Catch the baby in mid-air for bonus points, but be careful not to shoot them by accident! Return the baby to the surface for more points, or carry them to gain upgrades (see Controls). The radar shows where enemies and babies are. Killing all the enemies on a level sees you move on, losing all the babies warps you to a dangerous zone packed with enemies. Controls: Joystick port 2 Holding fire activates your warp cloud. Enter the warp cloud with fire held down to warp to the nearest baby in trouble Enter the warp cloud WITHOUT fire held down and any babies you are carrying will be traded for an upgrade. (The combination of "top" and "bottom" babies determines what you get. Carrying enough babies will earn you a level skip, the number of levels depending on the number of babies - I will add the chart later) Space bar activates smart bomb (if you have one) Scores to be in by 1200 on Sunday November 15th: Final scores : 1) 365350 - Merman = 100.00 points 2) 136710 - necronom = 65.14 points 3) 44980 - Zaphod79 = 49.01 points 4) 38350 - Markopoloman = 44.53 points 5) 31740 - Robinfriday = 40.06 points 6) 29240 - Supermario = 36.14 points 7) 27460 - Jezzace = 32.33 points 8) 25660 - A.J Green = 28.51 points 9) 23990 - Clarance = 24.71 points 10) 23390 - HOW = 21.06 points 11) 19950 - TodayisForgotten = 17.02 points 12) 17450 - Paranoid marvin = 13.10 points 13) 14820 - JimmyJazz = 9.17 points 14) 6400 - Captainfantastic = 4.45 points |

Is there a high score table anywhere in this? I was too slow in doing a screen grab, it moved off the Game Over screen, then I couldn't see my score anywhere again. [edit] Never mind. Seen the table and I got less than the minimum 10000 to get on. Edited by Antiriad2097, Nov 8 2009, 05:20 PM.

54,570 I think I know what I'm doing now. This game is very unfair at times. I've lost loads of lives when a baddie had appeared on top of me and killed me without me being able to do anything about it. I've never really played any Defender type games for any length of time (we played an Amiga one - Star Ray - a while back that I didn't like or play very much), but I'm quite liking this. Maybe it's because I have a big incentive this time: first place on the leaderboard! I might get my name at the top for a while, before merman or someone who's good at Defender has a go. ![]() |

Whoa! As Ted (or was it Bill) would say. I've just had the game of my life on this thing! It was my first go tonight, and I didn't think I'd get many more goes this week, as I'm hoping to call in Sainsbury's tomorrow on the way home and get CoD: Modern Warfare for £26, and I'll be wanting to play that the rest of the week. I also didn't think I'd be able to beat my previous score either. Anyway, I put it on and was playing like a gaming god (for me it was, anyway). I think I got to level 15 or 16. Near the end, crappy windows decided it can't possibly multi-task like an Amiga could in 1985, and decided to dump me back to the desktop (I was playing in fullscreen mode) with the game playing in the background!!! I had a few moments of TOTAL PANIC (I have no idea what caused the desktop jump), and managed to get back to the game after losing a life I then lost another life very quickly and it was game over. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate windows? The game then asked me for a few words, so I type "The game of my life", which it displays at the top of the table That was brilliant, and even if I come last this week, I'll still be very happy at that score. Sorry to bore everyone. I guess you had to be there... 136,710 ![]() |

I thought you might I don't know if I should even play it again after last night's game, as I'm pretty sure that was a one-off moment of gaming clarity. If I try again, I'll probably just get annoyed with it. Though, since the disappointment this morning of not getting CoD:MW2 (as Sainsbury's had sold 300 copies in 4 minutes and I got there 9 minutes after it opened), I don't have anything else to play at the moment. |

Not cracked the 10K to get on the Scoreboard yet......Had some PC/emu issues, but all appears to be running smoothly now. Not sure if I'm gonna register much over the 10 mark though - It does scroll/fly pretty damn quick. This isn't a game I've ever heard of before - though as it's by Sensible I've found myself itching for a session on Cannon Fodder As I loaded STEem for Bubble Dizzy I wondered if anyone could perhaps assist wth my search......? I really do think that barring another laptop catastrophe I might finish the season Edited by HOW, Nov 10 2009, 10:35 PM.

OK, surprised myself and improved on yesterday's score a bit more... 311320 Tips: Use the cloud (hold fire to make it appear, keep holding fire and fly into it) to warp you to the babies in trouble. It helps a lot. You'll also find you emerge at roughly the same height as the bee carrying the baby, which is handy. Buy extra babies (when the indicator on the right says BABY and the number bottom right of the score panel is below 5) Use your smart bombs! You start off with three and get more every 20,000 (or you can buy them). I find the best way to use them is to shoot several maggot clusters and let them chase you, then bomb them. I tend to fly right and stick to flying right all the time. Learn the radar colours - bees/flies are green, faster and more vicious enemies are pink. You can often spot maggot clusters quickly using the radar. The countdown on the radar tells you when the maggot clusters are going to "burst", it's a good tactic to get rid of a few before this happens. |
