well thursday is nearly here and the anticipation is growing . i'm about to embark on a trip to the isle of arran to visit friends .this in itself is not a cause for concern , however i've never done the trip on a motorcycle before . :Yikes
i am breaking the trip up thought , stopping overnight in buttermere on the way up , four nights on the island then a night at kielder on the way back down .
hope it doesn't rain :Pray :Pray :Pray

Are you going alone on your bike or with a pillion? I must admit that if I was going then I would be tempted to just get the hammer down and go the whole way in just one day. Its only around 310 miles from Derby according to Via Michelin.

In fact in the good old days I have been all the way from Lount near Ashby up to Bellshill near Glasgow and back to Derby in one hit, all at 56mph. I won't mention that I then did another job straight afterwards from Kirby in Ashfield down to Gaydon. ;)

Oh and err, it'll almost certainly rain. :Rain

Have a good trip. :Up

I'm sure you'll love it even if it does rain a bit. You can't beat touring on a bike :Up

So are you avoiding the motorways? you say your taking it easy?

V4's - Twice as good as a V Twin!!!

Touring on a bike is great - as long as you stay dry and reasonably warm - when its biting cold and snowing - you know when to quit.

Enjoy the trip, I am sure you will love it - especially if you take it nice and easy.

I bet John's getting a bit wet looking at the weather on the BBC website. If he stopped in the Lakes last night then the rain is going to follow him up the country today and into Scotland and by the look of the timings, he would have to set off early and ride fast to beat it! :Rain :Rain :Rain
