I'm doing the Great North Run for British Red Cross; Any donations gratefully received

I'm doing the Great North Run in two weeks' time, 20 September 2009. It's a 13-mile event, which is the furthest I've ever done in an event, but I've reached it in training quite comfortably so, while I won't be looking to win the thing, I will be able to plod around fairly well without my legs falling off :)

I'm running for British Red Cross, and am trying to raise at least £350. Take a look at my Just Giving page below:

Cheers guys :thumb

WTG Deeks, I am proud of you mate, not many at your age are capable of that amount of exercise.

(My niece does the run most years... if she can park the kids on someone LOL) I entered for it a few years ago but didn't do it cos I broke my leg. So WELL DONE for even getting this far.

Yeah it wouldn't be pleasant!

I want to say a big thanks for those that supported me, either by sponsorship or moral support. OK, mainly by sponsorship!

Unfortunately I had to wear the British Red Cross vest, but I did manage to pin my Spurs membership pin onto my race number so at least I had them next to my heart!

The race was brilliant, it was a bit warmer than I had hoped but to be honest it didn't affect anything, you just get swept along in the atmosphere. The crowds were brilliant, loads of music, red arrows, the whole thing was just fantastic! 50,000+ people, it's one thing to sit in a stadium with that many, but to be out running with them all was just amazing.

I aimed at getting 2 hours 10 minutes, and managed to get 2 hours 3 minutes, including an emergency pee right after we started, so I was well happy. Got a medal, t-shirt, loads of goodies and got to look at quite a few fit ladies, which was nice.

It took me until tonight to be walking normally again, but I'm definitely having another go next year. Next for me is the Great South Run in 5 weeks' time, that's 'only' 10 miles though! Anyone that didn't sponsor me is more than welcome to do so for this one instead!

Once again thanks everyone for supporting me :mates

It wasn't actually as painful as I thought it would be, just tiring. Although I was groaning like an old man the next day lol.

LOL I have not done any running since last year when I tried to take it up again. Injured my foot and the doctor told me "No more running, try swimming instead."

What? amongst the odd things floating in the sea here? How the hell can that be better for me?
