Once again we cross to South London to take on the gooner scum at the Enema's Stadium. I dont have time to deliver much of an introduction to this match thread right now, other than to say COME ON YOU SPURS!!! |

I didn't vote 'cos I don't want to Jinx us but am not holding out much hope for anything from this game, mainly due to historical reasons ie. the fact that we haven't beaten them in the league for like ages. That Arshavin looks like a real threat to me and this game has the potential to be a real high scoring one. Bale & Bentley to start on the flanks after impressing 'Arry the other night against Everton? They played left and right of midfield and were both supplying dangerous crosses so don't be surprised to see them feature at some stage. Bentley probably to start on the right 'cos of Lennon's absence and Bale possibly to feature off the bench if we are losing and in need of some route one crosses on to Crouchy's head. Nobody can pass the ball and keep it better than Woolwich so possession is going to be key, and Gomes is gonna have to be in inspirational form due to the attacking threat posed by our neighbours from all over the pitch. We've come on leaps and bounds after 'Arry's year at the club, sadly however I don't believe we have progressed enough to come away with anything from Saturday's lunchtime kick off.

Usually (pre Bentley) in the absence of Lennon, Jenas would deputise on the right side of mid with The Thudd in the middle and up until now (even when fit) Harrys quite often not even named DB on the bench so I'll be a little surprised if he does start. Remember a couple of years ago JJ was supposed to be edging his way into the England squad with the idea he'd be fighting for Beckhams place? How the world turns huh? Since then Bentley was to be his successor and now its our Aaron who the likely candidate. Personally (although I said I'll be surprised) I do think Bentley WILL get the nod for our right side on Saturday with Jenas in the middle, mainly because I feel poor Tommy just wouldn't be able to keep up with the crisp short passes and speed of touch the gooner scum's midfield possess. Plus Jenas always seems to step up a gear for this type of game. The only other alternative I can see is Jenas on the right with Kancjar in the middle and Bale on the left but I hope that doesn't happen. I'm yet to be convinced with Kanjcar though. He does seem to go missing for large periods of a match, which is something that JJ seems to have all but eliminated from his game. Whatever way it goes we're going to struggle. No Defoe, no Modric! Two little quick players that could have been our mirror reverse, going toe to toe with Eduardo and Fagregas. Which ever way it goes............."There will be blood!" |

Agreed Whammy. That was a daft thing for Keano to come out and say. After that Wenger doesn't need to give his lot a team talk, our Captain has done it for them!

I think we can pull off a draw. I think Bentley will get the start on the right....we don't really have other options with Lennon hobbled. Jenas is not really suited for playing down the flank. We need to get a bit of redemption after the Stoke loss. I obviously know that we beat Everton in the CC, but to get back on track getting points in the EPL is key, especially away from WHL. ......................Gomes.......................... Corluka........King/Woody?................BAE Bentley......Jenas/Palacios............Kranjcar ..................Keane/Crouch.................... |

Well, the big day is nearly upon us, and we could be without our 3 most important arttacking assets in Defoe, Lennon and Modric. Even with all those 3 fit and available, it would still be hard to get any kind of result against these w**kers at the hemeroids, but without them, its looking like a very tough prospect. I think that we are going to need width in our game if we're going to get a positive result, and that all but means bringing in either Bentley or Bale into the starting XI. Both have not featured much this season but both put in sterling performances the other night against Everton, and dont forget, thay both started in this fixture last season, and we all remember the out come of that one. Else where, i would bring in Jenas, purely because of the pace he can bring to the midfield, and not to mention, he loves a goal vs the Scum!! I would bring him in for Huddz, who, for me has had a mixed season so far. I just feel he is a little too slow and immobile for a game of this stature, quality and pace. Keane WIIL keep his place because Arry seems to have a hard on for him. If he was dropped, the likely system would be a 4-5-1 with Crouch up front on his own, but i think this just encourages us 2 resort to long ball tactics, don't want us playing like Bolton!! We are going to need to see the very best out of our defence also. King NEEDS to play if we're going to defend well. Another point that needs to be raised, who is gonna keep tabs on Arshavin? Corluka is a pretty slow lad, not blessed with amazing acceloration or pace, would it be worth brining in Hutton? Cant believe i just said that! With all that said, this would be my line up: Going 4-4-2 ........................Gomes..................... Charlie......Ledders.....Seb Bass.....BAE Bentley......Wilson.......JJ..........Crunchie ...............Keano...........Crouchie......... Anyway, i'm rambling on a touch! All i know is, we're gonna need a few classy performers, some amazing finishing, some tough defending and some luck if we are to get out of this game with a draw, or maybe even 3 points. You just never know lads!! Well, wherever you are watching the game, enjoy it, and lets hope the boys do us Yids proud!! YID ARRRMMMMMMYYYYYYYY!! |

Admire your optimism KB, but this has massive loss for us written all over it. Our three best players are missing, all the crap that Keano and 'Arry have been spouting about us closing the gap - huge banana skins everywhere. I voted for a loss coz I honestly cannot see us doing them over - albeit I'll be praying I'm totally wrong.... COYS |

What about the left side? Kranjcar or Bale? Bales hardly had a chance to work his way back into the side but Kranjcar has only really claimed the left mid position by default due to Modic and Bales injuries. I think Niko will probably get the nod or Harry will be having to justify buying him to the money men but I think I'd rather see the taffy there. Kranjcar has seemed to go missing too much so far. Maybe its a settling in thing, maybe not but I've always liked Bale and would love to see him regain the form he showed when he first arrived at The Lane. COYS!!! |

Bale will be on the bench Go. I spoke with 'Arry last night and his midfield is gonna be Bentley, Jenas, Palacios and Krankjar, with Huddz and Bale as subs. Keane & Crouch up front with BAE at left full back. Now this is where it gets interesting cos 'Arry is giving late fitness tests to King & Woody and will start both if fit. But he is undecided about right full back and is toying with the idea of playing Hutton to try and counter the pace and guile of Arshavin who he thinks would run rings around Corluka, who has the acceleration of a dead slug. Well the big day hath arriveth and after our dopey lot mouthing off to the press all week about how our squad is now better than the Gooners and how it's time now that we beat them in the league, A s r ehole Whinger won't have to deliver a team talk, 'arry , Keano & Crouchy have done his job for him. I see a win for le team from N5 and a scoreline of 3-1. Hope I'm wrong but between the hours of 12.45 and 14.45 today I will have my phone switched off and will be avoiding the radio and tv until the game is over. Sweatybums forty something year old heart can't take the up's and down's of being a Spurs supporter when we are playing the big four anymore and I will be in a state of blissful Zen and tranquility until the game is over. |

This is certainly a tough prospect, my heart will always say spurs but my brain and realism is unfortunately seeing us get beat in this 1 by a goal. One of biggest matches on the football calender and hopefully the lads will be up for it and play with plenty of pride and spirit.

Gomes, Corluka, King, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Bentley, Huddlestone, Placios, Jenas, Crouch, Keane. Interesting, not sure about Huddlestone and Jenas, think it should be just Jenas with Niko on the left. |
