Anyone starting to doubt 'Arry?; 4-3-3 to accommodate Keane

I'm not calling for his head or anything, but is anyone else out there starting to question some of 'Arry's tactics and decisions? He started off with a 4-3-3 today (was it to accommodate his love child Keane?), and for the first hour or so we were awful and very very lucky not to be behind in what was a scrappy encounter. The system didn't work against the Gooners last week and it obviously didn't work today. We had no width and although Lennon's still injured we have Bentley, Bale & Krankjar who don't mind getting some chalk on their boots out wide on the wing. It was only when the double substitution was made on 56 mins (Krankjar & Dawson on for King & Keane) and we went back to 4-4-2 that we really started to show some attacking intent, and take the game by the scruff of the neck. Much more of these type of decisions and despite picking up a scrappy three points I reckon 'Arry will divide the WHL faithfull just like Benitez does at Anfield. Redknapp has a stubborn streak just like Rafa, and it seems he is determined to play Keane when the majority of Spurs fans think he's past his peak, just because he was the one who brought him back from Anfield (akin to Benitez's blind faith in Lucas, who wouldn't look out of place in the Championship). I still think 'Arry will lead this club to great things, and far be it from me as an armchair critic to question a man who has been involved in the professional game all his life, but I do wonder at some of his team selections (especially his blind faith in Keane). Am I on my own or is anyone else out there starting to doubt our great leader? :eyebrow

Yup,

but at least Harry's not scared to sub him off now. He's been doing that on the hour mark with great regularity lately.
Surely he has to admit sooner rather than later that he's either going to have to partner him with Defoe or Crouch up front or leave him out of the starting line up. You can see it, I can see it, most fans would agree with it so why is it taking the man that matters so long to twig?
urry up arry, come on!

My only problem with 'Arry is that he makes it so obvious when he likes, or doesn't like, anyone. He is acclaimed for his man management skills, but tell that to players he isn't so keen on! Today was a perfect opportunity to see if he could get Bentley to play to the top of his ability, but he didn't even get off the bench. I know no-one can get it right all the time, but he has his blind spots.

In the words of Mike Bassett England Manager, "Four-Four-F arking-Two!" We're Tottenham, not Chelskum who have the midfielders to make 4-4-3 work :slap

i was thinking the same some of his tactical decisions have cost us this season and i think it all started with our first defeat of the season to Man U! Keane was pushed to the left and Crouch partnered Defoe, ok we were outplayed but we would have stood a better chance against them if Krancjar had started down the left and Keane either up top or on the bench!

Then we have defeat to Chelsea, for some unknown reason Jenas, Huddlestone and Palacios worst of all Palacios on the left? again if Krancjar had been put on the left with either Hudds or Jenas to parter Wilson in the middle we would have stood a better chance!

Then we have our hated neighbours, Redknapp goes for 4-5-1 formation with Keane on the left, i would have quite happily gone with the 4-5-1 formation if we had 5 midfielders starting because we had 5 fit midfielders to choose from!

Yesterday was the same as our first defeat although it seemed to be a 4-3-3 formation opposed to the 4-4-2 with Keane a left winger

It certainly does seem Redknapp is trying to accomodate and it's not working! All of our defeats this season to Man U, Chelsea and the scum are games we were outplayed and it's quite easy to see the faults in the managements selection, im not saying we would have changed the results if we had played differently but we would have given ourselves a better chance!!

I agree, it does seem like he's trying to accomodate him. But, like someone said, it's good that he's substituting him. Surely he can't start the next game on the left? Play him up front or drop him, Niko needs to play on the left.

With the next game in two weeks time 'cos of the International break hopefully Luka will be back to reclaim that left midfield slot.

And then slide Niko into the middle with Palacios!

Ultimately, I hope we get to........

...................Gomes........................
Hutton........King...Woody...........BAE
Lennon........Palacios..Kranjcar......Luka
................Defoe.....Crouch................

I'm not going to say I doubt Harry, because I think he has does a fantastic job. However, I do agree that his determination (or stubbornness) in fitting Keane into the side is costing us.

Ultimately, I hope the team that Mich has stated becomes our main starting XI, with perhaps Jenas/Hudds coming in when we play away to good/physical teams.

Exactly the same thing people said about Jol a few years ago. Give the guy time, he's been here ONE year.

You have to wonder why he bought Kranjcar if he wasn't planning to play him on the left wing, even in the absence of Luka.

Seems like a strange decision to me.
