This is Tootle my new Sulcata. Still very young, just under 3 months (educated guess).
Im basically putting up photos of "her" (i think its female, but still too young to be sure at all), so that you guys can see her as she gets bigger and all.

So this is Tootle, hope u like.

Substrates to Avoid -- You should AVOID using the following substrates with your turtles or tortoises:
Alfalfa pellets -- These tend to get moldy when wet; some tortoises respond to the dust with allergy-like symptoms (runny nose and eyes, etc.)
Corncob or ground walnut shell -- These substrates do not digest easily and can cause potentially fatal blockages if the tortoise eats enough of them.
Cedar shavings, pine shavings, or pine bark -- These substrates contain oils that are toxic to tortoises.
Sand, Calci-Sand, crushed oyster shells -- These substrates can cause impactions in the digestive tract if the tortoise eats them. They also abrade the tortoise's bottom shell, which can allow infections to occur.

better safe than sorry... respritory problems are a pain!

lol..i knew someone would spot my rookie mistake. Ye they're pellets and they're gone...I've changed around alot now. Theres hay, and some stuff she can burrow into (but not stuff she can get compacted with)..I've made a raised level so its abit more interesting for her. Lol, i did buy her a little house but she decided to build her own!! She's really settling down now and i can see she feels at home, and she's becoming very friendly (coming over to me to say hi and stuff :D )

So, ye, i changed it. Thanks tho, please keep the tips coming cos its very helpful.

Oh, and a question; Ive read they need a large stone so they can wear-down their nails like they would naturally in the wild, is that somthing i should add?

Cool Beans :)

Thanks.

I'll stick up somemore pictures as time goes by. She's gaining weight and seems to be very slowly getting bigger. Since I've gotten her she seems to have grown about 0.43 of a millimetre, so watch this space!! :)
