I don't know if anyone here has heard of Richard Fife but he is a renowned owner, researcher and breeder of Sulcatas in the U.S.. On other forums I have heard many great things about him and wanted to share what he has done to improve captive care of these great animals.

Wow, thank you. My tort is gong through a period of significant growth and I have noticed he's started to pyramid a bit. I didn't notice this until we turned the AC on (it's set for 84-- this is phoenix.) I knew it wasn't too cold. He's got his lamp and he's outside a lot too. The humidity thing makes so much sense. Thanks.
