This is a general update, just so y'all know what's going on. As you may or may not have been aware, the forum has been kind of slow-going as of late, which is not uncommon to many forums. However, I've been inspired from some other places I've seen, and I want to try and kickstart things for a post-finals end of year celebration type thing.  Firstly, you may have noticed the creation of Paper Scraps in the category of Shredded Manuscripts at the bottom of the index. I'm going through old topics that haven't been posted in in years and moving them there, as well as moving locked and closed topics there, and introduction threads by members who are no longer registered. I am not, however, removing the introduction threads of members who haven't posted, but are still registered, at this point in time, on the off chance that they may return. Secondly, you will notice a brand-new shiny logo up at the top of the page! Yup, I just took the tags off it and got it up there. There's been some logo switching recently, what with one designed especially for Rose, and one designed especially for Nutty. In all that special designing I've been doing, I lost the original. As such, I broke down and made a new one. I thought about looking for a newish grey skin, one that has a little more spice too it (rather than all one shade) for some variation for the eyes, but I'm too lazy to do that now. I will, however, probably be revamping the icons underneath your custom title that denote the number of posts you've had/member group/etc. so that they blend in with the forum a little bit more. Thirdly, be expecting something new and exciting showing up soon! This should be here this evening, in fact, so keep your eyes peeled. If I do end up taking the time and effort to clean up our current skin and blend our logo better, I will let y'all know beforehand and probably take the board down briefly to get it all uploaded and working again. However, I do not foresee that happening at all any time soon, and certainly not until after finals if/when it does occur. Just thought I'd keep y'all apprised as to the goings on! Also... I have changed the minimum number of posts needed to change your own title. Rather than 3,000, it is now 1,000, so most of y'all should be able to do it on your own now. Morc tested it out, and it works, so... enjoy!

[size=14]CONVERSION ANNOUNCEMENT[/size] Okay, this is of utmost importance, y'all. We (all of Inkies) will be converting to a new server (it's free, converts everything... all our history will still be there, like this... we will just have more features)... ZetaBoards. It's put together by the folks who run InvisionFree. It is happening on an "ASAP" basis, so we're not sure when it will go through at the moment. We (the entire Administrative Team) wanted to let you all know that, however, in advance. The skin will not transfer, and in the meantime we will be working on picking a new skin for Inkies. Also, a plus to ZetaBoards is that we can offer a couple different skins and you can pick the one that you like the most. That's just one of the many new features. Seraphim and Doña Quixote have both tried out a zetaboard and we are both willing to report that it works great, it's very intuitive, and you shouldn't have a problem learning how to use it. It's pretty much the same as InvisionFree, for the most part. Now, however, we will have better tech support, features, and the like. As we said, we're not positive when this will occur, but hopefully soon. We look forward to the new look!Your Friendly Neighbourhood Admins |

Also, to add to what Aleka said -- the address won't change. We will have to find a new skin; everything else will be as it is. (And there will be a new feature that allows us to have more than one skin for us to choose from, so those who like the grey can keep it, while those who don't can choose something else.) And yes, the smilies will carry over.

322 pages is just wrong for a thread. It gets too big, too messy, too unwieldy etc. It can upset loading times for folks, and the like. I'm a member at forums where they cut off threads at 200 replies because of this. Anything over 100 pages is just too long. This was three times that length and then some. As such, I decided in the best interests of everyone to start pruning topics to keep things clean, simple and easy to load. ~~Mara |

Spring cleaning, but a little early. Topics over 100 pages are being closed for ease with forum maintenance, but you are very welcome to start a new version!We are also sending topics that are several months old to the Paper Scraps as well. Feel free to start new topics! We are NOT however, and we repeat NOT, pruning topics in the writing sections. Your writing gets to stay there. Oh... I had no idea there was a loading delay for larger threads. It actually doesn't seem logical that there would be one, since we're only viewing one page at a time anyway, so however many pages there may be before that should seem to be irrelevant. But if you say so.  In that case I can see a bit of a reason, though I hadn't heard any complaints from anyone about long loading times.

The day when your intro thread reaches 100 pages will in all probability be 6+ years from now, considering it's been there almost 4 years and has yet to top 39 pages.  That's not even 10 pages a year. I think ye olde threade will be with us quite some time, never fear.
There's nothing wrong with having a Piano and Composition thread. However, this thread had been lying dormant for over 6 months. No one's going to notice it on a page that's past a 30 day cut-off (the default setting for the board). So basically, people are encouraged to start afresh or make sure things stay updated.

Gen: Edited the title so it's just Random Rocks now.
As far as ads go: If we wanted to... we could pay to remove 'em. This is the info on that: Min. purchase: $5 Currant Rate: $0.15 per 1,000 page views Expiration: Ad removal credits do not expire Details: The payment system is through PayPal. Now, I'm not exactly sure how long 1,000 page views would last the site, so I'm not sure how long $5 worth of ad removal credits would last. Just there for your info and thought.
SECONDLY: The default forum cut-off date is now 90 days as opposed to 30 days. This way y'all can clearly see when topics were last posted in. If they disappear, that means no one has posted in them in 3 months and they clearly weren't active and/or interesting. Hopefully this will help y'all in seeing what posts are where, now.

Conversion update!! Y'all: Looks like we'll be getting converted starting either today or tomorrow... Not sure how long it will take. HOWEVER! I will probably take the board offline after we're converted so I can outfit a new skin and suchlike. So don't panic if it's missing. Remember, the old address WILL redirect to the new one.
