Boom. Posts: 323 Group: Elderly Headmaster Member #1 Joined: August 13, 2007	War has erupted throughout the magical community. Refugees are fleeing to Hogwarts in hopes of hiding out from Voldemort’s followers. Their fury over the Dark Lord’s defeat has led them to lash out on every magical soul, thus the Headmasters and Mistresses of Hogwarts have taken up the defense and offered a safe haven in exchange for their help in training students to defend themselves. Those choosing to join our version of Hogwarts will be offered a position as a student, adult or enemy, all of which are available as your own creation, a canon character or even a creature. Our school is set in the present just after Harry’s destruction of Voldemort. I want to emphasize that this is before Harry and the others have aged to adulthood. He has just finished his seventh year. Anybody wishing to play him or the others as a Canon will need to keep that in mind. We are often asked about age requirements, and, no, we do not any and yes we are very active. We do ask quite a bit from our members in their writing skills so please observe the following examples of what we consider good writing. In General: We don’t hate you. Seriously. We are just easily annoyed, but there are ways to stay on the sunny side of our life. Be nice to everyone. OK; so I know that won’t actually happen, but try to maintain respect. You’re going to have enemies. Understandable, but we don’t want to know about your personal hell with other members. If it pertains to the board, an Admin can help you sort it out, otherwise leave us out of it as well as every other member. As for the time frame....the year is going to be 2008, present, but we are going to be basing this site as if it is the end of the seventh book. Harry is grown with kids and the Minister. I know, confusing, but whatever. Any canon characters will be based as adults, please, unless a special request is made. Registering: You must use a first and last name to register here. These must be real names. Examples of an acceptable name: Jonas Sebastian, Alysse Withers, John Smith. Unacceptable names: Princess Pocohantos {and no I don’t care, if I spelled that correctly}, Jon360Little. If you want to second character, you must ask for permission, though we have no qualms about seconds so you will definitely get it. Shoutbox: We're not going to tell you what to say, but there are some polite behaviors that are expected since this is a member friendly board. Poke fun all you like, but try to keep it PG-13 or lower. No need to get explicit. Avoid the less then society granted topics such as religion and politics. Use a nickname too. Do you really want a stalker finding you because you used a real first and last name? Silly. Applying: Please do not post anywhere but the sorting area, until you have been sorted. Reading through posts is alright, but posting in rp posts won't be allowed until you’re safely in a House or registered as an adult. If you absolutely have to have conversation, PM is always there. Please have your sorting form ready and filled out when you post it. Ooh an added bonus for those of you that actually read the rules, you can post applications from all other HP sites as long as contains all the info we ask for. So you can add to one you may already have so that it meets our standards. PMing the admins to sort you won't get you sorted faster, it’ll only make us hold grudges against you and make your sorting take longer. In the sorting ceremony, you will also find applications for Canon Character, Magical Creatures, and an Adult application. All of those names are clickable btw to take you straight to their pages. The Canon and the Adult applications are of the same value as the normal student application. If you apply for one of them, you do NOT have to apply for the student one found Here. The Magic Creatures one, however, can only be applied for once you have been sorted somewhere. Posting: Posts must be a minimum of 5 lines. No exceptions, unless you’re posting in a out of character forum. Remember to utilize all of your senses in a post: touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. The use of the five senses will immensely improve your performance as an rper. Try to spell like a literate human being. You’ve read the rules about spelling and grammar now follow them. If you’re really bad at spelling and grammar, try inserting your post into a Word document first. When responding to a post, do not put what a person said into quotes or italics. Be creative about your response. It is possible. God-moding is not allowed under any circumstances. There is no such thing as a perfect character. Ever. There are emotional, physical, and character flaws to everyone. So don’t start out here with the Mary Sue or John Smith character. Be yourself and you might be surprised at how well you do. In case you haven’t guess, there are consequences such as warning for god-moding. Sexual relationships are allowed, but nothing too explicit, unless you warn everybody first. A warning and subtitle with Rated R in it is necessary if your thread leads to sexual intercourse or anything of that nature. Since everyone will be given their own room that is password protected, they can do whatever they please in those areas. Everywhere else needs some respect such as a warning in a title. No chatspeak/net lingo/smileys. Keep things as canon as possible in the setting. (This mean iPods will NOT work at Hogwarts.) Also, don't apologize about how your post might suck, or PM your partner about how it's been awhile and they haven't posted. If you think your post sucks, just edit it. Also keep in mind that it is very rude to pester people to RP with you. Continually nagging someone through PM or other means is not allowed. A person has the right to RP or not RP with the people of their choosing. Seconds and the Like: If you want to be a teacher, you will find all the necessary information Here, and, if you would like to apply for a second character, please visit This Page. Furthermore, if you would like to use a celebrity image in your signature, please reply Here to ensure nobody else uses the same person. Portkeys: You may advertise other sites. However, the only place you may advertise is on the Porkteys board. No where else. At all. PM's are included. If we find out about you PMing other members to join your site, you will be banned immediately. Graphics: Celebrity pictures ARE allowed but please, claim 'your' celebrity in the claim forum. Signature size must not exceed 400 pixels (width) by 200 pixels (height). You may have several small images but if they go over the limit, you may be warned and your sig may be removed. No more than 8 lines of text. Also, no animation in sigs or avis. Consequences: A verbal warning and/or a PM Warning, the topic closed and moved and warning level rising, suspension/mod review of posts, then banning.
