Old, but still flexible ....

I know these are keenly awaited by everyone, so here goes. Oxford finished with 9 wins out of 11 last season. Spurred on by this fabulous record we have since dismantled our winning team and currently do not have enough players on the books to field an XI of any description. On-loan striker Matt Green has chosen Torquay over Oxford for next season. Yes, Torquay. We still do not own our stadium, and are still paying £400k per annum in rent and service charges, leading to increasing debt. Our owners (principally Ian Lenegan of Wigan Warriors fame - the so-called chairman, Nick Merry, doesn't have two beans) have agreed to underwrite rising debts until we do own the stadium, after which time we will be expected to become profitable, saving the £400k per annum and, presumably, renting out our function rooms to North Oxford WI and the like. Still, on a positive note, at least season tickets are selling well and, errr, that's about it. |
