Garner, 20, has been linked to Nottingham Forest and United have moved to explain the situation surrounding his Carlisle future. Chief executive David Allen told the club website: "There is nothing we can do to stop any club speaking to Joe once they have reached the trigger. "We have always wanted to keep Joe as a Carlisle player." The deal includes a Ł500,000 pay-out to Garner's former club Blackburn Rovers along with a 50% cut of sell-on fees. Garner would also receive 5% of the fee, leaving Carlisle with a Ł590,000 sum. The striker scored 14 goals in 34 appearances following his permanent Ł140,000 move from Rovers last August.
