Roma striker Mido has rejected a move to Blackburn Rovers, according to reports in Italy.

Blackburn apparently had a £3m bid for the 23-year-old Egyptian international accepted but the player opted to stay with the Serie A club.

Mido, who had an 18-month loan spell at Tottenham, is quoted as saying: "I am not interested in Blackburn.

"I want to remain at Roma and prove that I can help this team go on to achieve success."

Mido made 28 starts for Tottenham but left the club to return to Roma after his loan spell ended.

The frontman was hampered by groin and knee injuries in the latter stages of the season after an impressive start at White Hart Lane.

Do Rovers even need another striker in the squad?

So far this summer Bellamy and Dickov have left but they have brought in Jeffers and Roberts. Although Jeffers may turn out to be a flop do they need to go our and spend £3m on another striker or do they need to strenghthen in other areas more?

I think Bellamy will be abig loss to them though, perhaps they are just trying to cover the bases by trying to bring "proven" goalscorers in.
