He got them promoted (after twice reaching the play-offs) took them to an FA Cup final and led them to 9th in the Premier League... "Chairman Eggert Magnusson and the board feel it is the right time to make a change in the club's best interests." yet, just two weeks ago he said..."The Mananger has my total support" ...so what more did he have to do to keep his job?

I would have given him half a dozen more games, with the results of those saving/losing his job. Therefore, I would have given him a chance to get some points on the board. There must be someone lined up to fill his boots. Look at Charlton....What have they gained by sacking Dowie? :blink:

Huddersfields finest Posts: 13,034 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: June 2, 2005	The way West Ham saw it though....January transfer window is opening soon...do we give a manager who is currently failing more transfer funds and we may be in a worse position and so have to sack him. The new manager may then not like the players brought in...or make a change no. Im not sure which is the right option, you cant say he hasnt been backed with money though, just a shame for him that Ashton (the main striker) has been injured this season. With him they would be further up the league no doubt.

Good Poster Posts: 4,752 Group: Sheffield Wednesday Member #23 Joined: June 8, 2005	my opinion: he managed a team that took part in the best fa cup final possibily of my time, took a below performing west ham up from championship, kept them there, attracted big names <occassionally on dubious terms> and fought for the fans respect from day one, and maybe never truely won them all over? shouldn't be unemplyed too long you'd think?
