Really enjoyed today's game. Some lovely football played and our performance oozed with potential.

Rushden's expensively assembled side had the better of the first half. Our solid defence, which in my opinion is amongst the best in this league were disciplined and held firm. Studying the set plays as I do, I noticed Frank Gray has introduced zonal marking to the defensive set plays. Great when it's done properly, but I don't really trust a young Conference side with it!

Second half we probably had the better of. Marvin Morgan scored something of a wonder goal with a 60 yard run, beating three players and finishing cooly. See here:

The inexperience told though as Rushden went up the other end and scored, players out of position and running towards the ball. As I said, it was the inexperience showing and they'll learn from it. We nearly nicked it towards the end with another quick counter attack, but Pattison skewed his shot over. Earlier Matt Gray saw a 30 yard dipping shot go just wide.

Overall, I'm pleased with the performance. It oozed with potential and when these boys mature, we will be a strong force in this league. Our team, assembled on a shoestring budget, more than held their own against an expensively assembled Rushden side tipped for the play-offs.

It's great having low expectations B) And we're above Stevenage :)
