Interstingly enough I recently bumped into Frank Skinner and David Baddiel at the 24th Annual east south and west central Stockport area Paint ( Gloss ) convention. Frank has always been a big fan of paint. Naturally enough the conversation soon turned turned to the finest makers of paint, Johnstones. As a football fan Frank was of course aware that Johnstones Paints sponsor the Worlds Premier knockout cup the world famous Johnstones Paint Trophy. Frank's colleague and fellow Paint fan David Baddiel then turned up. He was doing a 4 hour presentation at the Conference on the topic " The Big Debate. Rollers or Brushes " ( and thats not the rollers that GasHeadMar wears in his hair to perfect those lovely curls ) As a big fan of rollers I am delighted to report that Baddiels impassioned defence of the roller eventually won a hostile brush waving crowd over. We met up again after the speeches and after a couple of beers Baddiel agreed that it would be stupid not to record a new version of " 3 Lions " to coincide with Stockport County's relentless match on Wembley. " It'll be great " enthused Baddiel. Skinner added " We'll get the whole country behind Jim Gannon and the boys. It'll be like 1966 all over again " and here's what they came up with : " 3 Goals ( In the Carlisle net ) " Daly,Baddiel,Skinner Its nearly here Its nearly here Its nearly The Finals nearly here Its nearly here Its nearly here Its nearly The Finals nearly here VBM board will know the score ( oh and you will and you know it ! ) Daly’s told them all before ( just once or twice ) He just knows He’s so sure That Stockports gonna blow them away They’ll blow Grimsby away CARLISLE know they can play 'Cause they remember... Three goals in Carlisle’s net JP Cup is gleaming 100 years of sh**e But Dalys started dreaming So many jokes, so many sneers All those absolutely nowhere nears Wear us down Through the years But I still see that tackle by Flynn And when Kev Francis scored Marsden belting the ball Jim Gannon Dancing Three goals in Carlisle’s net JP Cup is gleaming 100 years of sh**e But Dalys started dreaming ( Interlude with extremely naff old “ inspirational “ commentary capturing glorious moments in the clubs history ) “Stockport have done it. Chris Beaumont is sent off for spitting. He follows team mate Michael Wallace down the tunnel and secures Stockport’s place in history as the first team to have 2 players sent off in a game at Wembley. “ League 1 Play Off final 1994 against Burnley Its nearly here Its nearly here Its nearly The Finals nearly here Its nearly here Its nearly here Its nearly The Finals nearly here …………………… Etc etc |

I'm quite happy to stay in, fresh head for New Years day game. PS your bet will be safe, we have some serious ass to kick!! They wouldn't dare play like they did away to Bristol Rovers in front of me!!! :D |
