So I am just wondering if anyone has made New Years resolutions and how they are coming along!!

My resolutions for the year are:

1. Shop less!- This one has been tricky. I am a shopaholic, I think. I realized that I spent so much money the past year on such stupid things like clothes, which I really didn't need, I probably could have gone on a trip of some sort. Like go see another YV show. So this year I am going to try to keep my spending in check. This resolution is going to be very tricky though, since I caved on the first day and bought a pair of shoes...hmm.

2. No more diet coke/soda - This past year I drank so much diet coke, I think at one point I was slightly addicted. I would get headaches if I didn't have it at least once a day, and then if I drank it my headaches would stop. So far this one hasn't been going so well, I caved today and had a diet coke. Boo...

3. Only eat natural sugar - So I work at a cupcake store. When I first started working there I went nuts and ate so many cupcakes it was disgusting. So to put a ban on it, I decided to only eat natural/organic sugar. It's also much healthier. I figure, I have given up meat I can give up sugar. So far it's been going well, I think the first three days were the worst. By the third day I wanted something sweet SO bad. But i think I am beginning not to crave it!

What is everyone else's resolutions?!

So I work at a cupcake store.
I don't really have any resolutions, so this is a little OT, but I did want to say: How cool is it that you work in a cupcake store??? That sounds like a dream job to me. A place with only cupcakes...and you get to be in that place all day long. Wonderful. (Although, with that third resolution, maybe not so wonderful...but still...)

I'm with Nancy, it's so cool you work at a cupcake store Vanessa! I'm sorta kinda jealous, though I'd weight 400 pounds if I worked there. Cupcakes, they're not just charming because we have our very own resident cupcake, cupcakethecat :friends: or because they taste so yummy, but they're so cute. Even the word, cupcake. I've told my students several times over the years that I want a storybook character name as a teacher, I want to be someone like Mrs. Cookie or Mrs. Cupcake. But only as a teacher and not for my real name. Yes I'm a weirdo! :ha:

Vanessa those are great resolutions! I haven't really solidified mine yet, but so far these are the ones I've had planned.

1. Get the rest of my pictures and memoribilia in albums, scrapbooks, and places where they can be enjoyed. I have a lot of framed pics, albums, etc, but have so many yet to get organized and look at. I hate having special things shoved away in a drawer.

2. Take pictures all the time. Take pictures more mindfully.

3. Get back to the balanced eating and gym routine I had going in 2008 'til school started and things got :frantic:

4. Never miss a birthday.

5. Speak more patiently to my students when things are busy.

Those are really good resolutions! I really like the take more pictures one! I think I could do that too, because I take lots of pictures, but they are mostly bad and stuff. I want some good ones!

Hopefully you can keep your resolutions! I usually forget mine after two weeks LOL. But I am hoping this year is different!

Julie your not weird! My dad would call me cupcake when I was younger, I loved it! LOL. Yeah, its honestly such a cute job. I work with really nice girls too. It gets sooo tempting just staring at the cupcakes day after day though, especially because they are SOOOOO pretty! But I tried them all when I first started and over Christmas just went for it and ate them whenever I wanted. When I gave up sugar by day three I was almost literally crawling up the walls I wanted something sweet sooo bad. I hope I can keep it up! Its day six (almost 7) now and I am feeling OK!

you can do it Vanessa! keep it up, that's great! I've done South Beach diet in the past, so not exactly the same but I know how hard it at first to give up sugar/starches for such a long stretch.

And I should totally give up diet soda but just can't! good for you!

Yeah, I used to be so into taking pictures, but I got so sloppy and mindless the last few years. I've been thinking about it more the past year, but I'd like to continue in 2009. A friend of mine who just snaps everything and anything, beautifully, really inspired me and made me wake up from the photo coma I slipped into somewhere along the way.

...4. Never miss a birthday.
OMG me too, forbidden cupcakes... it's imposible not to have one when you see one, IMPOSSIBLE... and i will probably weight 500pds for sure me too.

And Julie for your resolution n.4, you missed my bday last year  (it's ok)

For me my resolution

1- be more patient
2- be more patient
3- be more patient

(oups i have a problem) hahaha!

After baby Oliver is here (less than 7 weeks :cheer: ) I will be more active, and lose the baby weight, not much to loose but, we all know were it goes that fat...hum hum in the butts... and I will help others to achive things all things, help older people or people in need of care. But my number one thing is to raise money to help for a cure on breast cancer, since my sister in law died 1 y ago at 40 yold, i am really into it, but this year I will do my best to raise and to help.

that's good I think...

Can I say these resolutions remind me how great all our forum folks are!!!!

I gave up the diet soda thing last year and dropped 10 pounds within the first 1.5 months...that whole thing about artificial sweeteners messing up you metabolism -- I believe it. It was also helpful bc my Bug can't have any artificial sweeteners or she gets sick...so there was more motivation.

I am focussing this year on losing more weight...spending more time with Bug...staying focussed on the important things...and enjoying family and friends more.

I wish success to each of you...and if I can help at all..let me know!

:eat: Losing weight, OMG what a big thing, :swoon: I use to weight around 238 pounds... i am looking for a picture to show you guys I work hard over the years and with a big life story behind this weight loss...I can start a tread on that and will have a lot to say about it.

Before baby weight my weight was around 165 pounds so for a total lost of 73 pds. I did a thing like weigtwatchers here, called MINCAVI (slim for life) It's a hard journey but dam it worth the energy to do it and now i am very happy... Except baby weight gain hummm but not much around 20 pounds and still have 7 weeks to go... So keep on track and be confident that if you want to lose you will. Positive energy and thinking positive is the key to the success...

here some pics to see by yourselfs

Karen you look absolutely amazing. Amazing! I'm so impressed by your honesty telling us your story. You look beautiful, and have transformed into a whole new you!!! I seriously would not have recognized you. I've got pictures I don't have the nerve to share them right now, I really admire your ability to be so forthcoming. Maybe someday I will show them, but I'm not ready. Weightloss really does change your life. I packed on the pounds when I lost a baby and then when I was pregnant with Ben. I gained a whopping 60 pounds. And once I had Ben, I found motherhood incredibly difficult to adjust to. I'm pretty sure I had postpartum. We had just moved to a new city and I knew absolutely no one. I was so sad, and so lonely, and to top things off, things were not well in my marriage. I wish I could go back and tell the old me a lot. But it was a rough patch, and I know I wasn't well. I remember bringing Ben downstairs in the middle of the night as a tiny baby thinking I could fall down the stairs to make it look like an accident. Horrible, I was so depressed. I never really lost much weight when he was a baby and toddler, maybe only twenty pounds. But in 2004 I woke up and realized god this is NOT what I want to look like. So I've lost 60 more pounds. :flex: I know, I have a lot more to lose, but it's been a lot of hard work and I'm proud of what I've done so far. I used to hate the gym and now I love it. I really want to lose more so that you can actually see my firm muscles under all my flab. :lmao: But that will take a while. I'm a different person, but I've got quite a way to go. Hats off to you Karen, you must feel VERY proud of your accomplishment. Look at you in that bikini! Totally sexy mama!!!! GIRRRRL! You worked hard, and you shine. :friends: Love you Karen.

I don't really make resolutions because I know I can never keep them, but I guess my resolution for this year will be to go to college this fall, which will most likely come true because I've already gotten into five schools.

And this thread reminds me of The Resolution by Jack's Mannequin, I love that song. :D

KAREN...THAT IS AMAZING......I have been losing....I had lost close to 40 lbs. then had some probs with my ears and was on steroids for 3 weeks..so I gained 10 lbs back!..but I am working on losing that and back on my exercise schedule...so it will come off....That is my goal weight 165-170.
I too started at 236 and right now I am at 204.

My resolution this year is I am going to be more positive....(and I want to be more optimistic!)
