Mp4 is a video container, so u should check if ps3 plays x264 codec, if not there is nothing we can do, raws are encoded in other codecs, maybe that's the reason why you can play them.

Well yeah that's just it, couldn't you encode your releases in a codec similar to the RAW? I mean I'm sure a lot of people like to watch their HD anime on their HDTVs instead of their monitors, so I think it would be better if you could make your releases compatible with PS3s to appeal to an even wider audience.
