ummmm I'm going to bring this to another perspective and point. If you have been updating your PS3's software (IE: hooking it up to the internet and downloading the updates like you should be doing) then you should just be able to play .avi extensions. The recent upgrade for the PS3's software has the DivX codec installed into it so your PS3 can now run in infamous .avi exentsion which we use for our hardsubs. I have done this myself and our hardsubs run perfeclty on my PS3. If you just use the AVI version now you should have no problems anymore >_> EDIT: There could be another factor involved that I just now though of. This depends upon which generation of PS3 you own. There are three that I know of unless they have just realsed another one 1st Gen: 20 GB's 2nd Gen: 40 GB's 3rd Gen: 80 GB's The 3rd Gen PS3's should automatically have the software for avi's installed into it, but the 3rd gen is also the PS3 that can't play PS2 or PS1 games (which is why it fails). As for the first two you have to update your PS3 to obtain the codec. There could be other differences but with my PS3 I have never had problems being able to play the mp4 files that we have released, I am not sure what the difference could be but it may be that. I just thought I should add that small thought into the fray. |
