since animesekai asked, i'll share my experiences in malaysia a few days ago

I went there hoping to get some one piece merchandises, and managed to get some
on thursday - took train to port dickson somewhere in malaysia. nothing much to do there
friday - went to KL, watched movie at night
saturday:
morning - petaling street, couldn't find anything. they only sold sunglasses, shoes, bags, shirts and watches <_<
afternoon - went to mid-valley (some kind of big shopping mall). there were tons of anime shops, with ridiculous prices.
there was this jigsaw puzzle shop with some one piece jigsaw puzzles. the cheapest was RM100 for a 300 piece puzzle. a stained glass kind of puzzle with 500 pieces cost RM200 :(
obviously i didn't buy any. there were also other anime shops but didn't have anything i was interested in.
Night – went to Sogo mall, nothing in particular
Sunday – went to Times square. Bought a set of 8 one piece key chains (all strawhats except nami and franky, replaced by enel going merry) for RM19.90 and a robin figurine for RM18. Pretty good deal 
Sunday night – took train back to Singapore, arrived Monday morning
Will post pictures of my key chains and figurine tmr  its very cool!!!

 seems that you don't really enjoying your trip.

Fyi, best to visit Petaling St is during nite time bet 7pm and 12midnite where you get to see lots of non auth branded goods selling at really cheap price. But in the am, only a few shops open. Well, as a matter of fact, I do like shopping in Malaysia especially KL and JB mainly bcos of the currency rate and nice foods.

Well, just last Sat & Sun, I went to JB and stayed at Grand BlueWave Hotel (4star). Guess wat, the hotel is nice and our room which was on 18th floor is so big and facing the sea. It's an executive suite and it cost only RM195 (abt SGD$90) with breakfast, cheap huh...

At night, we went to watch Alvin and Chipmunks at City Sq. Then went shopping. So happened on the ground floor, they are having anime fair. So, I bought lotsa stuffs, like OP posters, some Prince of tennis stuffs and anime DVDs and spent abt RM150

and this Nami (abt 12cm) I bought her at only RM3 ,so damn cheap, rite

oh, I oso bought this OP mag but it's in bahasa Malaysia. It contains lots of info abt OP from the begin of it's journey till current. And there are lots of nice pics in it too.

hehehe, i post some more stuffs that i bought soon... ;)

nah, not all anime stuff in malaysia are cheap, but i have to admit their anime or Jdrama boxset are darn cheap.. as for their toys/keyrings/figurines, you may wanna check if they are the original item.

when I bought my anime stuff, I make sure there's a sticker at the back of the paper.. eg NAS sticker or something...

actually, i kinda lazy to go petaling, because..

1) i am lazy to bargain for items
2) i will end up buying things that i really dont need
3) its too crowded there
4) not forgetting, no $

so i skipped it.

eh so where do you live?
btw malaysia's stuff is either really expensive or really cheap. i was at the MPH bookstore in Times square, and they sold english versions of one piece manga (up till volume 15) at RM25!!! singapore's bookstores and comic stores sell for S$5, which is less than half the price of malaysia's mangas.

Well, they are actually selling the US version (VIZ Media) so if at RM25 is consider cheap lor cos here in Singapore, US version selling at ard SGD17. The chinese version published by Chuangyi is selling only at SGD5. If I not mistaken I did saw the bahasa malaysia version by Chuangyi selling at ard RM5 or 6 like that.
