Hi everyone, I've got this question: where do you store your episodes? Given each episode is at least 230MB+, having all 330 episodes so far would amount to at least 75GB, not counting some episodes which are bigger in file size. I really wish to have all the episodes without needing to go online to access them as the downloaded file is much better than viewing online, and also for some other reasons. I've been downloading for a few days now and I've gotten about 30 episodes or so down since I can only use the computer when my mom isn't at home: I'm always banned from using the computer because I need to spend more time studying and stuff, and my mom will only take out the laptop (from a safe) when I have some work to do. During the day I can access it, maybe will explain next time. Anyway I cannot afford to let my mother known that I am using the computer without her permission. She also set a password at the login screen which she doesn't know that I figured it out using www.loginrecovery.com My family has 2 external hard disks. One 80GB, my father is using that one and he brings it to work practically everyday, and i won't be able to use it even if I get all the episodes saved on it. Recently we got another one 160GB, my mother, sister and I are supposed to share our files on it. So I had about 20 episodes or so saved onto it (about 5GB in size), when she found out (today) and went to delete all the 20 episodes Hence, I currently have about 10 episodes or so saved on my laptop, which is about 3 years old now, back then it was considered really advanced but of course by now is getting outdated. At most I'll only be able to get 40-60 episodes - of course I can't do that. Therefore I've thought of some alternatives, since I definitely can't use the hard disk shared by my mom, sis, me because right now we only use up like <20GB of the total space, and adding another 70+ GB would be wayyyy too obvious. 1) Save it onto CD - I can easily get CDs, the ones I have have a capacity of 680. The episodes I direct download from www.onepieceline.com are the ones I mentioned are 230+ MB or so, but I just looked into my files and saw episode 67 from kaizoku-fansubs downloaded by BitTorrent that is 172 MB. Given that each episode is 230MB+, I'll only be able to get 2 episodes on 1 CD, while the 172MB one I'll be able to get 3 episodes on 1 CD. I'm not sure if that means that all the Kaizoku-fansub ones are all about 180MB though 2) Get another hard disk by myself Ok, I'm just a student of 15 years old, and I definitely can't go out to work with my mom keeping a tight eye on me. We got the 160GB one for SGD150 from my uncle who sold it to us at cost price, and I definitely can't buy from him, so it would cost more, probably slightly over 200. 3) Somehow or rather compress the episodes till a really really small file size. Anyone knows how to do this? please please please give me all your suggestions, many of you are probably better than me in these kinds of computer stuff, so I would appreciate all the advice Sorry for the long story, just want to explain my situation clearly PS I just figured out how to take screenshots successfully after reading the tips so many times. I'm really bad at computer stuff

It's a simple issue really. You either: 1. Store the episodes on DVDs 4,5GB each (need a DVD writer). That would take about 25 disks to store all OP episodes so far. 2. Buy an external hard disk with the highest capacity available (750GB ones are about 200euros/$250). I'm doing option number one, it's not a big deal. I wait 'till i have episodes enough to fill the disk capacity and burn them, label them and store them away. |

yes i did the same way as pazuru. i'll burn all my animes that i've dl in dvd-r so that i can keep it. and usually i'll try to download or convert the avi to mp4 or ogm version cos the size is much smaller and can store more eps in a single disc. where to get dvd-writer, hmmm *taps finger on chin* well, currently i'm using Benq external dvd-writer with 16x speed. i hv been using it for abt 3 yrs now. btw how much ur budget? perhaps, u may want to check it out at Sim Lim sq (that's where i bought mine, i think ard $200++ if i not wrong at that time) but now the price shld be much cheaper cuz that time during suntec IT fair, i saw my dvd-wr selling as cheap as ard $80-$100 like that. u may want to check funan It mall or the challenger outlets too but i think over there quite x.

how do you do all that? i'm a computer idiot so you mean you have all the episodes? uh, is it possible for you to save it all again onto more DVDs and i buy from you? if you don't find it too troublesome probably still cheaper than if i buy the DVD writer and only use it once

If you think about it a bit, it's a lot better investment to buy a DVD writer, it's not expensive nowadays and you can use it for about 5 years or more (from my experience). The empty disks themselves are cheap too and after you finish storing One Piece, you can dothe same with other anime's. It saves space if nothing else. The software for burning (writing) data are really user friendly, i strongly recommend using Nero 6+, it has never failed me. Hope that helped. |

in DVD writer do you guys mean this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_writer so does it work by connecting the DVD writer to the computer then somehow saving it onto the DVD in the DVD writer? i don't really know about these stuff pazuru talked about some writing data software. is it one that has to be purchased or downloaded? its supposed to write the data into the DVD right? then isit just need the software then don't need the DVD writer? |

The best way to do it is just to delete all the episodes after you watch them. Why save them? You have already seen them anyway. If you really want to save them though then burning to dvd is probably the best way. DVD Writers are $20-$30 when you buy OEM (original equipment manufacturer). That means not a retail version (not in stores). That is what I buy when I build computers. You can buy them here: www.newegg.com. |

internal means dvdwriter will be installed/attached directly to your tower/computer case while external u just need to connect the cable to ur usb port. well since u already hv the dvdrom so i suggest u get the external writer cuz if u don't want to use it u can just plug out the cable and keep them. |
