I really have no problem with gay marriage or whatever gays want to do. I don't believe that the right for gays to get married should be taken away because of religion. They have the right to make their own decisions like everyone else in this nation and it's wrong to take away anyone's rights.

Against nature??? Homosexual sexuality and experimentation occurs with surprising regularity in the natural world.
I like that everyone is not the same and the homosexuals and bisexuals I know are fun and add a valuable variety to our society. While I dont share their sexual perspective, I cant think of a valid reason to discriminate against them in any way.
For a group of people that like such flamboyant characters as those that appear in One Piece there are some strange posts in this debate! =P

Well Dr. Oini, i agree with you.
And i understand you say you think its weird to find people thinking homo marriage and stuff is wrong, or you think there can't be a valid reason to discriminate. But you must consider that in this forum there are people from many countries, with a different social and cultural enviroment, with different realities you know?
I strongly believe on freedom, and i don't care what other people do as long as they don't hurt others.
But that's just what we believe, we can't say we're right, because for those people with different opinion... do you know what's their reality? i men, so many different countries, so many different values, many different life experiences, their opinion may change from ours, but we can't say they are wrong or they think weird, because for them its natural to think that way, and even maybe they are right and not us... I mean who knows what's right? I don't know... I only know that i know nothing.. ho...

Well, anyway, my point of view here is that i believe in freedom and i know that freedom ends where other people rights begin. I don't really mind what others do as long as they don't hurt anyone.

Agreed Shanks.
Once people talk in terms of right and wrong the debate has gone sour. I respect everyone's view of the world and moral values, it makes the world an interesting place. But when someone imposes their morality on others, there is a clear problem.
Oppression sucks.

Ok so I keep hearing that

1yes allowed to be married because its their life

2no because its not natural, bad for future etcs etcs...

in my opinion a marriage is just a paper contract... it really means nothing.... so lets say
-----------------------------------
option 1: yes allowed them to marry. Ok they will marry, considered "legal" or so....

--

option2 : no, don't allow them to marry. They will have sex with each other anyway.... :psy: So nothing is changed in reality if they love each other.

---

My choice is just to let them marry.. its just paper contract. real love contract is within themselves...

Anyway I'm not gay!

Being homosexual is genetic, not a choice...

Franky, I don't think it's ever been proven that homosexuality is genetic. I think there's probably a lot of opinion on it.. but I've never heard of them finding the 'gay' gene.

I'd personally argue it is probably not genetic. There's been some talk about 'natural' and 'nature' here, but I think most people can at least agree it is against natural selection. Meaning, if there was a gene that caused homosexuality, it is less likely to be passed down the line as there is less likely to be reproduction (and yes, I am aware there plenty of cases like Oscar Wilde due to society pressures etc).

Also, I know a pair of twins where one is gay and one isn't :P

However, I think what is generally agreed is that it is decided very early in life. So, the main point Franky makes (it's not a choice) is valid. People are not choosing to be homosexual, its been decided by their very early upbringing (or perhaps biology rather than genetics?) from an early age.

Marriage is a tricky one... as it is a word some are very emotional about. Personally, I am undecided on what you call it and don't really care either way. But should same sex couples be entitled to all the same legal rights as what a married man and woman enjoy? I think Absolutely!

To quote a comedian I once saw talking about the issue: 'It's amazing how some people care about something that is never going to affect them.' If you're not gay, why do you care if two guys/girls are married or not. It makes me suspicious that the saying that most homophobic people are actually in the closet is actually true.

By the way, I'm curious about the homosexual animals people mention before (but not curious to look it up myself)... are they animals strictly gay.. never reproduce? I remember reading about a documentary on the issue but I missed it.

oh yippie the gay topic i was wondering when i would find a forum that had something like this on it.. well hells bells here we go.. my thoughts....

1. Being born gay is a logical answer to begin with because: Men who act more like women are born with female mantalities from birth but where given the wrong equipment (out-door plumbing rather than indoor) girls born with the male mantalities are really wanting to be male (hence in my opinion where lesbians come into play here)

2. Morality of it all: every religion out there with the exception of Wicca and Paganism view homosexuality as un-natural and wrong so they grind it into society to the straight folks that this is a grade A sin. however i have to question who are they to question what is sin and what is not sin since humans are not without sin so therefore they should not cast the first stone.

3. should homosexuals get married? answer to that is.. whatever makes them feel good.. marriage is not something that is bound by paper. because paper can be destroyed in a blink of an eye.. however it is what is in the heart.

for moral purposes congress does everything they can to put it into people's heads that this is a wrong and immoral act and is beyond human nature.. this kind of thing is wrong because to say and try to enact such a thing is going against someone else's rights and if they are stateside.. also infringes on their ability of freedom of choice..

this is just my thought and theory on the matter..

i'm open-minded about alot of things and have always lived under the general rule of thumb.. "To Each Their Own" and "Do What You Will but Harm No one in the process"
