I saw that your Rosario+Vampire subs, while decent, had quite a few noticable spelling/grammar errors that didn't get caught before release and that the translator apparently thought were correct. The best example was "swiming", which was more common than the correct spelling of "swimming" in episode 5, while another one is that the screenshot you put on the frontpage for announcing episode 6 displays a grammar mistake made in the sub ("You've better be careful", as opposed to the correct phrase "You'd better be careful"). I glanced over your softsub for One Piece 342 and noticed that it was about the same quality as R+V 6 - "good enough", but far from "perfect".

Anyhow, what I'm getting at, is would you like me to join up and look through your subs before you post them to fix up the spelling and grammar?

I have started now to grammer check and spell check everything since these recent "outbursts" have occured. The next Rosario episode should have no grammer/spelling errors unless something slipped my eye or someone did an update without telling me. The next One Piece episode (depending on who will translate it) I will look over as well. If its Nami or Desiboy that translates it the grammer and spelling errors should be very minimal if existant at all, while if it is translated by anyone else then I will go ahead and look over it.

Thank you for bringing this issue to attention.

It's spelled "grammar", so you probably wouldn't catch every mistake. :P

As for a test, that's easy enough; since you guys post softsubs, I'll just edit your Rosario+Vampire 7 sub and post a fixed version here.

Haha nice one dude, but anyway that's just a mistake for writing too fast, he doesn't have an editor for his posts hahaha i think he can do good job editing, but i'm not from Rosario translation team, so it's their call, but it's always good to have an editor ready, in this case, maybe Kazuki desn't want to do the edition all the time and you can back him up, or maybe he doesn't want to edit at all, but anyway is good to have more than just one editor just in case (We have like 5 translators for One Piece and this week we had lots of problems).
And also is good that the editors are native english speakers, me for an example, my language is spanish, and i think i can work my ass very fine with english but i can't be an editor because I'm not a native english speaker and that means my english will never be good enough... (Well, maybe people living many many years there can do as well as a native speaker, lol)

There is also a differance between crappy forum posts/replies and actual work you submit, being a smart ass won't get you anywhere.

As for native speakers we only have 3 translators that are native english speakers while the rest are from Indonesia and random other asian countries >>

The English translators include Desiboy, Nami, and KillerBEE.

Everyone else is from someplace else....

Neither will being a jerk to people who offer help.

And Gelmax, they don't seem to care about errors in spelling or grammar. They are in every episode and never get corrected. It doesn't really matter though, they are just speed subs. Editors would take time.

hmm ok. as for me i do need someone to check on my work so an editor is essential but ofc i'd prefer the editor to be able to understand Jap as well cuz beside checking on grammar mistakes, he/she can assist to check on any mis-translation too

Kazuki, you are acting really cocky. You are acting like I have a shit load of errors. Not to be conceded, but I think my grammar and "ENGLISH" is one of the best in AnimeSS.

Gelmax, thank you for your insight. You seem like a suitable translator and comedian at the same time. So you have my vote :P

Well sorry for forgetting to add you into the group of native english speakers in my first post you slipped my mind, if you would of continued on you could of read my post where I did add you into that list. I wasn't trying to be cocky I was just simply saying that we were going to start editing our subs a bit more vigorously from now on with the large staff we have already. Another editor has already been added to the staff even before Gelmax asked to join us and adding another editor would be too much for us right now with such a large staff as it is.

Well i think everyone has a valid point.
But if you allow me to say something, i've been working for fansubs for a long time, i've been part of one, a small one but with great works, and i know what is like to have just a few staff members who work hard and do a good job, and i know what is like to have to do it everything by yourself.
And this is a fansub with the luck of having a nice amount of people...
But even that way, i can say that is always good to have new people really interested in working for you, people get tired, people may have something to do on a given week, or a given month, people can just get bored of working, anything can happen, and add as many people as you can is a good thing. If you have too many people, you can do rotations if everyone agree, one week one translator, one week another, one week one editor, one week another, or maybe two weeks, or who knows, that's good to keep people focused in the fansub work, and when the time when the fansub lost some of the staff members (that time always come) if you have enough people, you will be able to keep going on, if you think you have enough people, maybe later, one day, who knows, most of that people could lost interest, or maybe have something else to do or whatever, and that's no good for any fansub...

I'm the kind of people that's very busy everyday but like to give some time for friends and myself to do things like fansubing, or whatever i can...
That's why i love to do the timings for One Piece every week and i love to play basquetball at home even if i am too busy with work, or maybe a girlfriend (not right now :P ) or anything else.

So lets not forget what is all this about and instead of see who has the right and who doesn't, let's try to be happy for having lot of great people working and even more people interested in helping us :)
