Senior Webmaster Posts: 532 Group: Moderator Member #97 Joined: September 12, 2007	it takes a specific codec to run an .ass file and the general codec packs that people download dont have it. I had that problem originally when I was introduced to it and I had to go and download something to run the ass file. In general its easier for someone to have the codec to run srt than ass

Senior Webmaster Posts: 532 Group: Moderator Member #97 Joined: September 12, 2007	I know k-lite has the codec for ass and as for you dexil it is actually the program that has the mudkip as the "icon" for it (I can never remember what it is called) that has the codec for you. I know you have the program or at least Iw as told you do. I use the CCCP codec pack and I know that doesnt come with the ass codec so thats why I had to go and download a program that actually makes ass codecs to grab the codec pack for it.

Hey Kazuki, I've just recently did a fresh windows xp install, installed just the CCCP and I could play .ass files fine. Maybe your CCCP is out of date or some other codec pack is getting in way?

Senior Webmaster Posts: 532 Group: Moderator Member #97 Joined: September 12, 2007	Well unfortunatly that cant be possible because when I tried to install Aegisub about a week ago it screwed up my computer and I had to do a system restore because I couldnt play any srt or ass files even after reinstalling CCCP. After the system restore I downloaded CCCP and installed it again and I still couldnt play ass files until after I went and installed a working version of Aegisubs. You could of downloaded another program or codec pack that had what was needed to play an ass file. But otherwise I dont know because I know my version isn't out-dated.
