They both were born into respected families, and to no ones surprise, [Carson] was declared a mage and [Thomas] a Master Mage. Growing up as friends it also came as no shock when the two announced their engagement. Unfortunately fate played a cruel trick on them. When all the Masters and Magii were summoned to Atuan to try and find a solution to the curse, they went as well, postponing their marriage. [Carson] worked in the Elementals department while [Thomas] was employed in the more practical areas. Neither saw much of the either. While working [Carson] became good friends with a Mage called [Reese]. They became very close. One day, while [Thomas] had been out to a gathering on the neighboring island, [Carson] and [Reese] got involved in slightly less than reputable activities. It did not go as far as sleeping together, but things were close. Now [Carson] can’t seem to take her mind of [Reese] and she doesn’t feel the same attraction to [Thomas] that she used to. As if she needs more things to worry about. Who will she choose? As if things can’t get any worse for her, [Hampton] has gotten a hold of [Carson]’s little secret. [Hampton] is in love with [Thomas], but as a commoner she doesn’t stand much of a chance. She’s lucky she’s managed to gain a level of his friendship. But if she should tell him about his ‘beloved’s’ dark little secret, would he come running into her arms?</span> |

When [Matthis] came home one day he accidentally discovered who the mystery man in [Gead]’s life is. His Father. He discovered that [Gead] and [Matthis] had been together for quite a few years. He was furious, and has since then not spoken to either his father nor [Gead]. Instead he spends his time hatching schemes instead of helping to save Atuan. Will he manage to destroy his father’s relationship with the girl they both love? Is he prepared to hurt his father that much? And how does he know for sure that she would come running to him? Meanwhile [Matthis] and [Gead] are developing a strong relationship, and although he isn’t yet sure whether he should, there is a good chance of [Matthis] asking [Gead] for her hand in marriage.</span> |

Upon their arrival on Atuan to work with the other Mages on a counter for the Atuan Curse, they were all placed in a group together. For the first day everything went very well…and then something happened. Some say it was because of family bloodlines, others say it was because of some large argument. No one knew for a fact what had happened, but in one night [Dominis] and [Beron] became the two greatest enemies on Atuan. Not only did this cause turmoil in their own lives, but it’s also placing a lot of unneeded stress on their work. Sometimes the patience and kindness of the Halem couple seem to be the only things keeping the group from destroying itself. While [Dominis] and [Beron] keep at each other’s throats, the [Halems] have a whole other theory of why there is so much tension between the two, and that there is more than just tension too. How much more is there really, and if there is something else there, will [Dominis] and [Beron] ever realise it? As for the [Halems], their relationship is only getting stronger while they work ever diligently on finding a solution. They do justify their hard work by saying that they make up for the lost time caused by the rivalry. </span> |

Perhaps not your conventional everyday love, but they had a spiritual connection, as well as a physical one. There was one little problem. Magii are not allowed to have same-sex relationships. Why? Because it offended the Leading Master Mages. Thus they had to keep their affair secret. But secrets can never be kept. Somehow their secret leaked out, and [Carta] and [Talis] are struggling to cope under this new pressure that’s been placed upon them. By accident they meet commoners [Verne] and [Lexis]. As this law doesn’t apply to commoners, [Verne] and [Lexis] have been a couple for eight years. They are well known, still respected, and they stood together through thick and thin. With their help [Carta] and [Talis] not only learn to cope with their new relationship and the pressure of being homosexual, but they also gain two trusted friends. </span> |

Friendships will form, love will blossom, enemies might be made and secrets will creep in. Who knows what might happen. But while their world seem to fall apart, some losing family and friends to the curse, they all know that something has to be done. And if those blasted mages won’t ask for help, they can’t turn them away either. [/size] |
