Once again the CDC was well represented at the ADO Regional Playoffs in Akron on Saturday, July 25th with Gary Mawson (CDC 990201) winning the Men's event and Kay Hoover (CDC 1004) winning the Women's event. Gary and Kay will now head to the National Playoffs on October 9, 2009 in Denver to compete for a spot on the United States' America's Cup Team. CONGRATULATIONS TO GARY AND KAY AND GOOD LUCK IN THE NATIONALS!!! Edited by CDC, Jul 26 2009, 08:59 AM.

Gary Mawson and Kay and Megan Hoover flew to Denver yesterday at 4:50pm. They safely arrived and were going to practice last night and get a good night's sleep. They check in this morning around 9am and begin play around 10am (12pm EST). I will post any updates I get today and over the course of the weekend. Kay Hoover is playing ladies' doubles with CDC's own Jennifer Ehlert and Gary Mawson is playing with nationally ranked Darin Young. Gary and Kay are playing the mixed doubles event together. I wish all of them good luck and represent Cleveland! Jamie Mawson |

Great news from Denver! Both Gary Mawson and Kay Hoover advanced out of the round robin event! Unfortunately Kay did not go any further. Gary won the event and will be travelling to Jamaica next July to play in the America's Cup. The other man was Chuck Pankow. I do not know the women right now, but when I do, I will post here. Congratulations to Gary and Kay on a job well done! Jamie Mawson |

Women that will be travelling to Jamaica with Gary Mawson and Chuck Pankow next July are Marilyn Popp and Brenda Rousch. Gary Mawson and Brenda Rousch both made the America's cup 2 years ago and travelled to Trinidad and Tobago. Very impressive to come back and repeat in such a competitive challenge. I only hope I get to go to Jamaica with Gary and the gang. Jamie Mawson |

Congratulations to Gary amd Kay and the rest of the darters representing Cleveland on the national and international level. I had a email conversation with Tony Zerella and he may be interested in doing a story on the darters that attend and compete in these events. If Gary, Kay and Marlise could give me a call on the CDC phone line I will discuss the options with them. Have a great day and best of luck to Gary and Marlise in Shanghai next week. I wonder what they call it when you hit a single, double and triple of the same wedge over ther??? Please call me as soon as possible, I would like to get something set up to highlight local darters accomplishments while they are still current. Have a Great Day and Week All Jon |
