I just spent 20 min. looking for info on here which I knew was here just couldnt find it. Think maybe the website should be organized and the front page made more user friendly? From my point of view the website is built based on what the builder wants the user to see and not what the user is looking for. My suggestion would be to quit placing more and more squares on the frontpage and reduce the amount of links by placing what is there into organized groups ie. Club/bod-membership-forums by-laws-ect. Leagues/forms-schedules-standings-ect. Allstars/info-ect. Tournaments/trails-extravaganza-ect. Reduce front page bulletins to those that are significant and necessary information and quit posting personal accomplishments of club members/tournament info/club related events/ect. on the front page, alot of that info will get neglected even though it could be important because if it does not apply to what the user is looking for, then it just becomes meaningless propaganda. Put the info where it belongs, users looking to become an all star will most likley look for that info on the all star page not the front page.

Make the site look like after 40 years we know how to market our club and provide our membership with organized information, after all, whoever is putting in all this hard work deserves to have their information read and put to good use. If I were a webdesigner I would do it myself, all I can do is convey what I see to those responsible for design. Not to offend anyone but I apologize for being a critic and my intent is meant for the better.

Hi Dennis & ALL.

You've made some good thoughts here on the status of the website. In fact, many other members as well as members of the BOD have felt the same way. Over the past year we got a group of folks together to rebuild some of our infrastructure. Informally we named this team the "architecture team".

This effort was mainly based upon increasing the organization, efficiency and sustainability of the Club and it's data. One other benefit was cost savings for the Club as a whole.

So now for the good news! This upcoming Fall we will be doing a launch of the new CDC website! It is going to become one of the MOST FUNCTIONAL DART LEAGUE WEBSITES in the nation. Essentially we've organized all Club information back into respective categories (similar to what Dennis suggested), added new functionality for members, and provided a single portal where all Club members/officers/chairpersons can go to retrieve and maintain data.

As I've been leading the efforts for most of the above items, I'll be the one taking over the upgrades and maintenance of the existing site (starting this September) and launching us into the new site over the next couple months. I am a software engineer and I own a software/internet company so I have a good background on the process we're going through right now. Plus, as a current darter with the CDC, I have gotten many ideas from players about improvements to the site over the last months.

MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE CDC MEMBERSHIP MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2009 (You can check the calendar for more details). At this meeting I hope to have the latest version of the site up and running for all to see.

Remember that the CDC is always a Club that is as strong as it's members. This is what makes our Club the best around! We are continuing to evolve and offer more and more things to our darters. Many of these upcoming services will be offered and highlighted on the new CDC site. One goal of these new services will be to make darting more fun for EVERY darter in the league (no matter which night/division you play on). Another goal will be to bring other darters into (or back into) the CDC as we continue to show why we're the #1 darting organization in the Cleveland Area. We want to remind everyone that we're a member driven Club with the sport of darts and our members in mind FIRST! We run events and do more than any other league around, and anyone has a chance to get involved at any level (which you can't do in any other Club around). The CDC continues to offer free session tournaments with big CASH PAYOUTS, the best league payouts and lowest fees of any comparable league around. So if you are a "bottom line" tavern owner, captain, or player... why would you shoot anywhere else? If scheduling is your concern, rest assured that the years of experience and knowledge from the upcoming League Operations committee FAR EXCEED any other organization around. Our scheduling sessions are open to ALL MEMBERS to attend... you always have the chance to have your voice heard.

This year is already proving to be a great year, and with so much that the CDC offers... why would you shoot anywhere else? To continue to be the BEST we need everyone to help spread the word to other taverns, players, and friends. Ask them if they want to PAY TO PLAY for organizations that offer them little to nothing, make a profit off of player and team dues, offer little to no events like Trails, tournaments, and other FUN events?... or ask them if they want to be PART of a member driven Club - like the CDC - which has all of the above benefits. When all the details are laid out, I think the answer is simple.

Don't believe the HYPE or RUMORS about the CDC being spread by other leagues. We are the TRUE leader when it comes to the sport of darts in Cleveland and the surrounding areas. Our initiatives & efforts are sometimes imitated but never duplicated!

Hope to see eveyone this upcoming season and year,
-Eric Belloma

The only thing that I would add, Mr. Clotz, is if you have any problems or issues finding something, Please feel free to call the club at 216-226-2582,and talk to Missy or myself. The phone rings at my house and as a general rule someone is always here during the day.

Also, you are free to join any committee. I know that we are looking for volunteers and you always seem to have great suggestions. Eric has modernized the club greatly and we are going to start having meetings on the computer so travel may not be an issue any more. I had my first meeting on the computer last week and it went very well and it was so nice to sit in your own house and have a meeting with a committee.
Have a great day,
Jon

Eric,
Thanks for the response and all of the hard work, sounds like there is a good grasp of what direction the website needs to go, and I think the club will move in the same direction.

James,
I may be getting older but I still consider my father to be Mr. Clotz just call me Dennis, or "D" if you prefer. As far as getting info I have and will call, thanks for being there when we need you, you guys have always been helpful, matter of fact I have never had a problem getting info I wanted or needed when I ask @ least within the past 2 years. Before that it was too much info and much of it was irrelavent.

The reason there are BOD members and committee chairs is because of people like me, somebodys gotta stir the crap to make it stink, then someones gotta clean it up. I may not have the best suggestions and my compliants may not always be valid but they do get a response and they keep people thinking.

Thanks "BIG D", (I was pretty sure you were Dennis, but I was not positive and I did not want to make a mistake)
As for the part about Volunteers/BOD members, I do not think there is any such things as a dumb question, (unless it comes from a BOD member--LOL) Of Everything posted here, someone out there may be having the same issue or concern and now they can look and see the answer. With all of the changes, it helps to have people who speak up. The BOD and all of the Chairpersons, need feed back on the ideas that are being implemented so they know that the membership approves or likes/disapproves or dislikes the pending changes. All of the current BOD members/Volunteers/League Manager have the sport of darts and rebuilding the CDC as their top priority. They are all working very hard to ensure that the CDC and the sport of darts is around for years to come. I would also encourage all members to come to the BOD/ General Membership Meeting in September and have the voice/concern/positive feedback heard.

Please Hurry and Get your Fall Teams Registered ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Deadline is fast approaching!!!!!
Have a Great Weekend,
Jon London

Hi Jim -
Just click on the 'printable' link just above the schedules. If you still have problems, email webmaster@darter.org and I'm sure Eric will help you out.

So far I've been pretty happy with the way the website has been shaping up. There are just a few kinks that I have found, forwarded them to the correct person, and had them taken care of rather quickly. Kudos to Eric for doing such an amazing job with fixing things and making them run more smoothly!

In saying that, I do agree with the other post. There are still a bit too many links that are unorganized and need to be classified better. The main page seems a bit wordy and very uninteresting to those it does not directly effect.

Side note, Jon - I'm a (new) BOD member, and I constantly have questions/comments! And yes, most of them are dumb, but sometimes there's a shred of importance threaded into my ignorance. I was previously employed someplace that had me searching for errors in people's work. Basically, it was my job to read for hours on end just to find a single fault in what I was reading. And I was darn good at it!

As far as the links for the schedule, several of us mentioned it to Eric, and they are now posted in a version that is more accessible by all.

Have a good day all!
