The Cleveland Darter Club will once again stage an end-of-the session, FREE tournament for all of its Fall League darters. The fall session tournament will be a DOUBLES event and will be held on Saturday, December 19. There will be separate events for each level of play (Bronze, Silver, and Gold).

Since this is a "doubles" event, you will need to sign up with a partner. However, if you do not have a partner, you may enter your name in a drawing where you will be paired up with someone else by blind draw.

ATTENTION BAR OWNERS: All CDC Bar Affiliate Members sponsoring at least one Fall League team and having at least 4 boards, may apply to host this event. CLICK HERE for more information and an application form. Application forms are due back no later than October 30, 2009.

ATTENTION DARTERS: Please pass on this information to your home bar!!!

Last year, our doubles tournament attracted over 100 participants and paid out over $1,500.

Please contact our league manager, Missy London, at scores@darter.org with any questions.

Hello All CDC Members,

The Bidding process has now ended for the Fall Doubles Tournament to be held on December 19th. I will be making up the sheets and preparing for the voting process. The Official Vote will take place at Rookies Bar on West 130th, just south of Pearl Rd., in the Shopping Plaza across from Marc's. If you are interested in participating in the process and casting your vote, for the location of the End of Session Doubles Event, please be at Rookies on Thursday November 12th, 2009. Join us for Trails and then the presentation and vote will take place between Singles and Doubles. (See darter.org for details on start time and address for Rookies and the Trails Program.
http://www.darter.org/trails.htm )
I would like to have as many people involved in the process as possible, so if you interested please feel free to attend. Plus, you can earn Trails Points and possibly a little CASH!!
If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a reply here or email Missy at scores@darter.org , and we will get back to you ASAP.
Have a GREAT Day, and I hope to see you at ROOKIES on the 12th-make your voice heard and join us for the vote. (The Voting Process should start sometime after 9:00pm, and not before)
Jon

What bars are on the voting list?

At this time, there are 3 bars that have submitted bids. The vote is a blind vote, so they names of the bars will not be announced until the second part of the vote. Please feel free to show up and assist in the voting process. If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thanks for the question Joe,
Jon

I give you all blind folds and you raise your hand for a vote!!! (LOL) (Just Kidding)

I have taken all of the info from the bars that submitted bids, and prepared them in a spread sheet.
The spread sheet lists all of the pertinent info like money offered, free food, location of bar, any food and alcohol specials, and the bar name. During the first part of the vote, I have "X" out the Tavern Name, so that all the voting members will see is what has been offered. So for example:
Bar A has bid $8 per person, free hot dogs and chips, $2 drafts, and 50 cent wings.
Bar B has bid $5 per person, no free food, $5 Burgers and Fries and 1.25 12oz can beer.
Bar c has bid $10 per person, Free Chips and Salsa and Sloppy Joes, and $2.50 Drafts.
bar D has Bid $ 7 per person capped at $300, and Free Pizza.
(This was all made up fake bids, and does not represent any bids past or present)
Now the voters would rank the bars in order of which bar should host the event, by which bar has bid the best deal for the members. As a group we should also need to decide how many bars to hold an event at. Typically I like to hold the event at 2 different locations, to kind of spread the wealth around to all of the CDC's affiliate taverns. However the voters can also decide to give the members the best deal, that we should only allow the best offer to host all of the events. (There are 4 events throughout the day, The Bronze Doubles, the Silver Doubles, The Gold Doubles and the Blind Draw Doubles.) After we decide which bar(s) will host the event, I will decide how to break up the events if necessary. Now if there was a tie, like 2 or more bars bid exactly the same amount, I would identify the bars involved and let the voting members know which of the bars had hosted the event the most recently, we would then put them in an order of call with bars that had hosted the event before at the end.
The reason for the "Blind Vote" is so that people will not be influenced by what the name of the bar is. This process is open to all members and Tavern affiliate owners, so by keeping the names a secret, the voter will vote for the best deal for the CDC member. (Hopefully in Theory)

Joe, I hope this helps you to understand how the process works. I sincerely hope you attend the voting process this Thursday. If you have any other questions please feel free to leave them here. I am sure that you are not the only person wondering how this process works. Have a Great Week!!!
Jon London
