The Localization was probably for the best as far as sales go, but as far as understanding the game and such, it wasn't doing any favors. At least the dialogue was pretty much the same in the American version, right down to the "It's only a leg" line. Just the names made things confusing. And the fact that the Tates lived in a very Japanese house and had switches outside their bedrooms and kept gigantic suits if Samurai armor in the hallway. And I'm still wondering why there's a Bedroom right next to the Living room... ...Sorry, lost my train of thought. The game's confusing enough, but I think they should have kept the Japanese names, because "Bates" probably caused more than a few immature schoolyard jokes (I would know--I did it myself), and it would have made sense to me since there are no Otera and Shinkansen in California, so far as I know...
