Theories for the parrot's "I'll kill you!"

In one of Hifumi Kono's emails, he said that Simon tried to kill Mary because of her and her brother's plans to kill orphans for Dan. Mary strikes back and put him in the courtyard shed jail.

As many probably know, parrots like to be annoying and copy whatever speech they hear. Being that the parrot is in the master bedroom, and that "I'll kill you!" is probably rather strong speech for a parrot to remember, maybe the incident Hifumi mentioned took place in the master bedroom?

As for who said "I'll kill you!", I think it could be Simon, because well, he's trying to kill Mary, and his sanity may had already been degrading a bit from the crazy stuff he heard that Mary and her brother were planning to do. Or it could just be a pissed off Mary saying that in rage of Simon trying to kill her, but in the end, she decides to keep him alive anyway, to in a way, run a freak show of Simon going more crazy in her own mansion.

1. Either the parrot heard the line from Mary.....OR the parrot could've been possesed, that's not too far of a stretch when you think of all the little messed up things that were in that house. ( Ah, good 'ol Satan magic, where would the world be without you?)

2. Huh? Mary has a brother!? Where was that from?

According to one of Hifumi Kono's emails, Mary has a brother and his birth made her get into black magic. It's really weird, since as far as I know, he is not mentioned at all in any of the Clock Tower games or materials.

Makes me wonder if Mary's brother was mentioned at all in the guidebooks, considering that Theodore was mentioned only in the Clock Tower 2 Official Guidebook.

But that does sound plausible that Mary and Simon did have a confrontation in the Bedroom. And that is where the parrot heard Mary cry out, "I'll kill you!" But then again, Mary would have to said that phrase quite a number of times in order for the parrot to recognize it.

So I would agree with kyrtuck's first point; I think it's just to add to the whole creepiness factor. Not to mention that the parrot also rats out Jennifer's location had you not smother him with the blanket. So the parrot is a smart bird indeed.

Unless we want to argue that, this is totally blowing it out of proportion, Mary was chasing Simon around their home with Mary screaming, "I'll kill you!" Since she was chasing him, Mary probably had to repeat the phrase enough for the parrot to hear as she checks every room. And then when she finally found Simon under the bed, that is where the parrot learned the second phrase. [I forgot what it said, it's either "There!" or "Under there!" I have to replay it again.] But I'm not too sure about that reasoning, so I'll just go with kyrtuck's explanation.

The parrot's evil. It's an Evil Parrot. It was born knowing those words.

(And now we have the conversation: "Was the parrot born evil, or did he just have a bad childhood? Could he have been helped through therapy?")

Now I have a mental image of the parrot perched on the psychologist's couch and having a session with Barton.

Barton: "Please, I need to know about the 'Clock Tower Murders'."
Parrot: "I'll kill you!"
Barton: "This is interesting research material!"

Then we're treated to the sight of a fake Parrotman, whom Helen has to vanquish in the dramatic chapel confrontation with a blanket borrowed from the Burroughs linen closet.

Easy. Mary's brother turned on her so she turned him into a parrot. OBVIOUSLY he was hiding under the bed so the last words he heard were "I'll kill you!" and "He's under the bed!"

I like the normal way that Mary was going crazy and want to kill with Bobby some kids to feed Dan and Simon want to stop them, but theres of course any other Way possible. Maybe Mary want to save Simon from Bobby and Dan.

It's really impossible to know why the parrot said I'll kill you, but personally I think it was either naturally evil due to the negative energy flowing from the Clock Tower or it was influenced by Dan. Even if the parrot heard the words 'I'll kill you!' from someone else, that doesn't explain why it claws Jennifer to death. If the parrot was acting out of fear from being neglected, it would have bit/clawed Jennifer as it escaped, not stick around and try to kill her.

Maybe Mary trained the parrot to kill people, like a gaurd parrot or something to that effect.

Guard parrots, now I heard everything...

And now why do I have a bad mental image of Mary training the cockroaches to attack whoever opens their meat locker?! Trained roaches, lawl.

I'm afraid we can now close this topic, as all answers about the parrot's killer disposition were provided last night by the Western miniseries Comanche Moon - namely, in the subplot where a captain of the Texas Rangers is held captive in a rattler pit by a dastardly Mexican bandit. Eventually, though, the bandit is bitten by a venomous tarantula and advised by his voodoo-witch conspirator to seek a remedy on the clifftops that will supposedly be hanging from some mystic tree. While she is killed rather colorfully by a passing jaguar, he climbs those clifftops with his now-gimp leg...

and looks for the tree...

AND THEN IS SUDDENLY KNOCKED TO HIS DEATH BY A RANDOM PARROT ATTACK.

It is at this juncture that, in a perfect world, I would produce an anigif of said attack to prove, like Dave Barry, that I am not making this up. Sadly, Googling turns up nothing; maybe YTMND will provide in a couple days.

Anyhow, the sorry aftermath is discovered by the captain's ranger troop. The requisite Indian scout finds a mutlicolored feather on the corpse and helpfully explains:

"Before Man, Parrot ruled the World. Now Parrot is angry."

Now Parrot is angry.

Watch out, Jennifer.
