There's a patch by Aeon Genesis that translates the game to English. I cheated and downloaded a ROM that already had the patch on it, though. XD

(Patches for ROMs are okay to link, right?)

Weellllllll... There's a page on the DCJ site about the patch. I can't explain how to put it on, so you should look at it. Sorry!

@ Enig: Ah, I wasn't sure. Thanks!

I don't think there's such thing as a patch for the PC version. Sorry. The dialogue apparently isn't too different from the SFC, so if you know it well enough it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Demolitions freak.

It should be possible to translate the PC version with relative ease, but I don't know Japaneese nor how to read things in a hexeditor which complicates the matter. It's easily possible... If you can figure out how. Other people tried to help me with the hex editor part, but it was still jibberish. Commanding a hex editor to use Japaneese characters is no easy matter I would guess.

However, I'm also guessing even though it would be a simple manner of find and replace it would require alot of error testing if you don't have someone who knows basic Japaneese.

Despite all the pessimism I just posted, it should be absurdly easy to translate compared to other such projects. It basicly throws the script file at you.

I tried translating the PC version, but as it turns out, unlike the PS version of Clock Tower, it does NOT use SHIFT-JIS, EUC-JP or any of the other standard Japanese fonts. This is pretty normal for games to use their own special fonts, but since the PC version looked a lot like the PS version's file structure, I was hoping that it would be a lot easier than it's proving to be.

I'm no hacker, so I can't figure out how to make a font table for Clock Tower PC.

Personally I think it's most likely more trouble than it's worth. The SNES version already has a decent translation and none of the other versions have significant differences aside from showing Bobby's resurrection. I'd work on them if they didn't keep putting brick walls in my way, but since they do, I've pretty much given up.
