It's definitely something because when I took off the backgrounds, the whatever-it-is is still there. So it's an object along with Jennifer, Dan, and other similar stuff. o.o;; |

I guess its the first frame of the dan chasing animation that the designers put in to make the animation start as soon as jennifer comes back from the cradle. |

Hey, maybe he was originally supposed to start the chase at theat point, but the game designers changed it, and what we see here is a little something left over from a disabled trigger? eh, I don't know much about those types of things though......no hurts me :( |

Huh, I believe Suzakuheat's video shows that Dan does not start off at that mark. I could be wrong, but watch for yourselves! 2:30 is where you can see the strange hand, and 3:10 is when the Dan Chase starts. |

It seems like maybe it is Dan's hand, but it doesn't appear when Dan actually chases you until he's already partly on the screen. Look at the YouTube video Enigmaopoeia referenced, and at 3:12 (give or take a few milliseconds) if you pause it you can see that Dan's hand (the one not raised at that moment) is in the same exact place as the mystery object, and looks very very much like it...in fact, if you pause it just right, it looks nearly identical (at least to me; anybody agree?). Also, the object is no longer there when Jennifer first runs out before Dan comes on the screen. It seems to be Dan's hand, to me, but it's not the first thing you see of Dan when he does come out. So that may or may not answer what it is. As for why it's there before Dan chases you (since that's not how Dan first appears on the screen) is still a mystery, even if it is his hand... |

(Okay, so it's been a year+ since this topic has been posted on, but I feel the need to reply. >_<;) A lot of parts in this game (especially the end) are set up so that it needs to double-check itself before you can progress to make sure that certain flags have been accomplished (an example of this is needing to go to the end of the cave path with the dog and Lotte in it, even if Lotte is dead. The game needs to check if Lotte is dead.) My theory is that there is only one version of the second cave map, thus Dan is spawned there no matter what, but he won't come after you unless you've triggered the cradle flag. I'm sure if you would somehow get over to the right edge of the screen again after dealing with Dan, (is it possible to get back over there when the cave is crumbling? Never tried.) the mystery blob would be gone. This is a check (not to mention the crumbling cave effect) to make sure that Dan has been dealt with before you go to the elevator. Don't even get me started on how Ending F is a huge flag check... So yes, in conclusion (if you don't feel like reading my wall of text) that is most likely his hand, just in a pre-activated state. This is a SNES game. |
