The School Uniform costume

I played a little bit of Struggle Within, and I did the cheat code that got you a school uniform costume. My burning question is: What's the point of having a school uniform costume when Yu's (I call her that in order to avoid confusion between her, and the Alyssa from CT3) normal costume is a school uniform? Is what she normally wears not a school uniform? I'm really confused.

If we were to dissect the logic behind the Ghost Head extra costumes, we'd first have to tackle the reasoning behind the monkey outfit, and, as Lore Sjoberg would say, that's a four-credit course in itself.

Seriously, though, I dunno. CT3's Japanese extra outfits included *two* school uniforms - summer *and* winter (with glasses!). Sailor suit fetishes die hard, I suppose.

I saw those two costumes. Sadly, they weren't attractive to me. I have a school uniform fetish, but not the sailor-y kind. B)

DESHI.

A lot of people like sailor uniforms, and I guess they put that in there to have at least one costume that would still sort of fit her character.

Unlike the monkey suit.

That's true. But, the school uniform costume in Struggle Witihin is more like a blazer.

I could be wrong, but I thought that Yu's regular outfit wasn't a school uniform. Sure, she wears a skirt and a... Blazer, I think it's called? But they look more like ordinary clothes than a school uniform. Besides, why would someone be wearing one when they're visiting relatives? (Unless they just came from school or something.)

Where does Ghost Head take place? In England they wear blazer-like garments for their uniforms, well, some of them do.

In the original version the game takes place in Japan, while in the English version it takes place in America.

(Ack, looks like I used the wrong word to describe that green thing Yu wears. Whoops...)

I don't think they look like normal clothes. A blazer, button shirt, plaid skirt, weird ribbon tie thing, and penny loafers aren't in style for regular clothes anymore. Maybe in the 80's, but not now.

As for why she wore that, I'm with you, I don't see a reason to wear one unless you got back from school.

DOLPHINATSU WILL KILL U!

Wow, I totally missed this topic!! I always picture Yû's green blazer and beige/gray skirt to be her schoolgirl uniform. But thanks to Flamzeron, I decided to look up the Clock Tower Ghost Head Official Guidebook to see what they have to say about Yû's Special Costumes, this is what they have to say:

SPECIAL COSTUME 1:
「その1」では、優はセーラー服姿となる。ブレザーのときよりも清楚な感じがするのは気のせいだろうか!?

In "Special Costume 1", Yû is wearing a schoolgirl uniform. Her blazer now gives us the impression that she is tidy or maybe that's just our imagination, right!?

SPECIAL COSTUME 2:
「その2」はなんと着ぐるみ。シリアスなイベントシーンが、一瞬にして喜劇劇と化してしまう……。

This a costume for "Special Costume 2". It will instantaneously change any serious event into a comedy...

And the Clock Tower Ghost Head Method To Capture Victory guidebook stated Special Costume 1 as "優の高校の夏服か?" [Yû's summer school uniform?"] and Special Costume 2 as "なんと着ぐるみだ" ["Is this a costume"].

I also decided to do some research. We know that Yû comes from Tôkyô and the Takano family lives in Ôsaka. Interesting to know that HUMAN did at least some homework, it shows that Akiyo's junior high school uniform are indeed what they wear in Ôsaka. Though it's hard to pinpoint the exact uniform because HUMAN don't state which ward the Takano family lives at. And as for Yû herself, we also don't know where in Tôkyô she's from because it's never specified in the game. This site suggests her default schoolgirl winter uniform may come from Suginami City due to that their uniform consists of a green blazer and gray skirt! And Yû's Special Costume 1 looks very similar to the senior high school winter uniform worn by girls attending Tôkyô Jogakkan Middle & High School.

Now these may not be 100% accurate and may just as well be totally fictional uniforms created by HUMAN, but it does show us that girl in Japan are wearing outfits very similar to Yû's and Akiyo's.

Wow, that's some explanation you have there, enigmaopoeia.

Thanks!
