So I got this game awhile back, and I do hate making such a self centric topic, but here's the thing. I really liked CT FF and CT 2/USA. Bobby and Dan were great villains, they popped up Often enough that I didn't rest much, but not so often that I found myself thinking that Jennifer should just take up residence in her favorite hiding spot. So as I played through the first "Stage" of the game (Something that bugs me about the game right off is Because I feel like Capcom has given it megaman syndrome, *Megaman 2 theme plays* HAMMER MAN!) And I have to say, Sledgy irritated me. It's not because he scared me per say, it was more because he wouldn't leave me alone for one bloody second. It felt like about 90% of the time he was on me and I spent a hell of a lot of time behind the curtain in the theater or behind the curtain in the shop (Obviously Sledgy has issues with curtains) I don't mind being chased don't mind being chased a lot, but C'mon, give me a little time to try and beat the stage for pity's sake. (On a side note, what's with Capcom blatantly admitting that these baddies have "NPC warp powers" But never explaining why they don't use them to warp right up next to you and stab you in the face?) So as I avoided his big ass (Which I managed to do without Dying I think...I don't remember) I thought to myself "When am I going to have time to collect the junk I'm supposed to collect anyway?" well, the answer was very slowly, after I got it, we all know what happens next, Showdown time with boss. I have mixed feelings about the boss battle thing, on one hand it's kinda cool, how you kill them is sort of neat, but on another level it seems a little silly. You spend the whole stage running from this freak and generally acting like a spazz, and then suddenly the gloves are off your hair is gold and spikey and you're ready to kick ass and play card games, being all out of cards of course. Well I whipped him, met Dennis, and then found out that Alyssa is a Mavrick hunter...I mean a Rooder, and now I'm onto the next stage with more bloody ghosts that want me to go fetch quests for them, and that's where I left off. Basically, I'm asking if there is more to look forward to, does it get better or is it more of the same? Sorry if I seem a little Whiny, but I so far don't feel like this game has done any justice to the prior games in the series. |

I'm not going to lie; encounter rates actually increase as the game goes on and the plot only gets more fantastical. However, the last level contains a lot of nods to Clock Tower TFF and Clock Tower 2 (and could even be taken as connections to the duology's continuity), so you might want to keep playing to see it. Plus, at least IMO, the game became much easier and more fun after I'd beaten it once and knew where to go and what sticky situations I'd encounter there. EDIT: Oh, and...
Good point. XD Since it's magic, I'm sure there's some magical reason, like Ruders have some kind of aura preventing Subordinates from getting that close to them via teleport. Edited by JBurroughs, Jul 7 2008, 07:16:33 PM.

Well, on the first level I did bring out the Game faqs, I'm a busy guy, I don't have ALL day to be chased around by some freak while I look for a pair of pliers. Jeez, the encounter rate increases? I have to wonder how that works out, the the next baddies just ride around in Alyssa's pocket or something? Well, around how far will I have to get before it seems a little more like a CT game? Like I said I just got to Acid Man's level, haven't even met him yet. Yeah, if you asked the capcom people that's probably what they would tell you. Still, the more I think about the game's make up the more it feels like the alien love child of Clock Tower and Megaman. 1. You've got enemies that have very specific methods of killing people (Hammer man, Acid man, Axe man, scissor twins). 2. You've got minor enemies running around the levels (Those moths and the bleeping ghosts) 3. In the end of the stage you confront the boss in a sealed room. About the only thing Alyssa doesn't do is pick up a unique power when she defeats one of them (Imagines Alyssa swinging around a Giant sledge hammer) |

I thought that the "megaman" japanese names like Hammerman, Axeman, ect. I thought those were just the japanses names. I assumed that the japanese language worked in a way that would encourage names such as that. ( apparently Santa's name in Japan is "annual gift man", according to an episode of the Simpsons. :P ) |

If you don't mind a small, non-storyline spoiler, Spoiler: click to toggle
After you've defeated Acid Man and the stalker after him (which is Axe Man; I don't know what spoilers to avoid, so I'm just blotting 'em all), the CT duology references start appearing. |

Well, I guess I can give it another shot sometime. I have the same issue with all these PS2 Horror games, "Protagonist covered in honey syndrome" The only one that I can think of that doesn't suffer from that is Fiona from Haunting Ground (She suffers from "freak the hell out and run into walls syndrome" Insead) |

You give amazing reviews. I found myself actually laughing out loud. I want you to continue to play it just so I can read your reviews of Axeman and the Scissor Siblings. Someone needs to do an 8-Bit Megaman spoof of these guys now... ALYSSA THE MAVERICK HUNTER. 8D |

Kaze, how do you know of my reviews? I don't remember posting them here, only on Screw attack and my site (Wonders if he's secretly famous and doesn't even know it.) Or are you referring to my mini-review of the first stage up there? Edited by zeon twilight, Jul 10 2008, 08:48:08 PM.
