DOLPHINATSU WILL KILL U!

Considering that a some of us like to refer to the characters in this game by their original Japanese names, I always find it a bit amusing when it comes to the name of the alter ego. So I was always wondering what do you prefer to call these two by? Do you call them by their original Japanese names or their American names? Or are you like me and like to mix up the two names? So tell me what you guys like to call them. |

I think because of Roger Jackson's awesome performance, I prefer to call the alter ego as Bates. Even though I like using the Japanese names for all of the characters in Clock Tower Ghost Head. I usually always call the alter ego as Bates instead of Shô. Maybe because I am so smitten with the American rendition of the alter ego, Shô doesn't seem as much impressive to me. Though I really need to sit down and translate his dialogue to see just how much of a "badass" he is in comparison. But still, color me guilty. I like calling them Yû and Bates. ^^;; |

I call them by their American names. Usually I'm the type to stick to the original but in this case it's because I played and learned about the game first on the American version . . not to mention I was in elementary school at the time so I basically grew up knowing these names. They're kinda stuck on me, no matter what! XD; Plus, when I try to talk about this game to other people, they can easily relate to the American names. When I say "Yuu" or "Sho", they think I'm saying "you" or "show" (yeah I know they aren't pronounced that way, but to people that don't know a lick of Japanese, that's what they hear). It's just convenient and familiar. |

The funny thing, Yû is pronounced as "you" and Shô is pronounced as "show". ^^;; At least that is what I heard them pronouncing it whenever I play Clock Tower Ghost Head. But yeah, it sounds funny whenever I tell someone "I love Yû!" and they give me a weird look afterward. So I usually go by their American names whenever I talk to someone who is unfamiliar with their Japanese names. Now I badly want to say something equally lame like "Let me Shô Yû something!" *BRICKED* |

Yeah, you're right, they are pronounced like "you" and "show" but with VERY VERY minor differences. It's more like trying to say "you" and "show" without pronouncing the "w" sounds at the end. It's hard to explain but it's close enough to where I just say it sounds like "you" and "show", but one time this nitpicky person caught me and said "They don't sound like that, it's Japanese!!!" XD;;; So I try to be careful with what I say HAHAHA @ "let me Sho Yu something". Clever. XD (There was also a Yuu in Fatal Frame 3 if you've ever played it but of course he doesn't have an American name . . so much confusion ensued x__x) |

I tend to use their Japanese names by default. I'll use the American names if I'm talking to someone else who uses them, though. (So would that be considered an example of "How about Yûlyssa Midôhale and Mr. Bateshô?", sort of?) |

ALYSSA! I've become a Subordinate!

I use Yu and Bates. The reason is because, even though I prefer to stick to the only verison of the game I've personally played (the US one), I like to diffrentiate the heroine of TSW from Alyssa Hamilton, so it's easier for me to call her Yu. |

I tend to alternate, although I prefer the Japanese names. Especially for Yu, because I find it too easy to confuse the two Alyssas. |D |

I think it should be Yuu (instead of Alyssa), and Bates (it sounds cooler and more horror-y), to avoid confusion. ^_^ |

Although I do prefer to call them Alyssa and Bates, most of the time I'll get names mixed up in my head and accidentally call Bates Sho. So, I voted Alyssa and Sho. XD
