So if the Movie WAS Based on The First Fear.; How do you think they might do it?

Just interested in what ideas everyone has for how to make a faithful movie based on The First Fear without it losing touch with the necessities of cinema (namely, length and more human interaction, I'd say). I believe the latest word on the movie is that it will based on The Struggle Within, but I'm still curious as to how a Clock Tower: The First Fear based movie might've turned out.

Like I said, the main concern might be with length and the fact that Jennifer doesn't get a lot of interaction with other people in the game that might amount to the standard amount of dialogue expected in a movie; so, if you were a director, and the Clock Tower project fell into your eager hands, how would you go about translating HUMAN's Survival Horror masterpiece to the Big Screen?

I'm not entirely sure how I'd do it, myself...I've got some ideas, but I'm not quite sure if they'd work, but maybe later I'll have them solidified enough to explain. In the meantime, I'd love to hear what ideas you guys come up with![redit][/redit]

In a way I'm actually happy that they aren't basing it off of the first two games. The creators of the original Clock Tower had a set in vision of what they wanted and they did it beautifully. I think that a movie version created by some Hollywood actor would never do the games justice so when I think about it, it almost seems like a GOOD thing they're not messing up the series...

...okay, I take that back, I'd KILL (figuratively) for a First Fear-based flick. The only problem is that the game borrows so heavily from previous movies...and then putting that into a film...it might be less effective because the FILM would be borrowing from other FILMS, so I think they'd have to be a little more creative with how they handle the death scenes (although they MUST keep the Pool Closed Due to Anne scene)

Actually I really do think that the game would make an amazing horror movie. It's different than most slashers...there really aren't many characters to kill off, so they can spend more time being creative with the death scenes There would have to be a LOT of tension and build up, lots of great chase scenes, and some superb (unknown) actors to pull it all off. I'd love it if they didn't explain EVERYTHING to the viewer, like many modern films do. We're not stupid. Leave some stuff open for some interpretation of what was really going on with that family, much like the game does (actually, the game itself leaves almost EVERYTHING up to interpretation if you don't have a manual or a guide or something to break it all down for you).

I'm feeling kinda loopy so sorry if I'm hard to follow at the moment. I could go on for days about what I'd like to see in the film.

Somehow I missed your post, Reiji!

I think your ideas are very good, and you really have a good point about how hard it would be to make the movie not just feel like a rehash of the movies the original game was based on. It could definitely be done, it'd just take creativity. Unknown actors is almost a must...I don't know why, but ultra famous actors and actresses somehow always detract from a scary movie's potential. Maybe because we're more familiar with them or something? Or maybe because we're more certain that they would never kill off the lead if she's played by (insert-America's-Sweetheart-here)...Drew Barrymore in Scream tried to fix that, but alas, the problem remains.

I think it'd be awesome if Dario Argento would direct such a film. I wonder if he'd be up for it? He could either be flattered that the game was a tribute to his movies, or he could feel like it would just be a ripoff of his movies and refuse. If he'd do it, though, he'd be able to capture the feel like probably no one else!

Mmm... Rubber~

I would love if the CT movie were based on The First Fear...

Anyway, I would probably expand on the characters a bit more by showing them all at the orphanage and how they interact with each other, and additionally when they get adopted. I'd probably also implement more interaction in the mansion and maybe have more people live or team up against Bobby or Ms. Mary.

I've always liked that idea, Goldie, about showing the girls at the orphanage before they were adopted, and being able to show their relationship among each other. I think, pulled off nicely, it'd add a nice fairy tale touch to the opening of the movie, which would make the later parts seem even more grim by contrast.
