What would you *not* want to see in CT4?; DO NOT WANT!

Here's a quick scenario: Through some magical and mysterious means, Clock Tower 4 has been released! You pop it into your 7th gen home console of choice, and you start to grin madly as your TV screen lights up with high-definition colors. And then the game starts, and something seems... Wrong. Whether you're playing as a super powerful Mary Sue Rooder secret agent with psychic abilities that's able to fly, having to feed lead to thousands of stupid zombies (again!), or something else completely unnecessary, you're just not liking it.

So, DCJ, what possible additions in Clock Tower 4 do you think would ruin the Clock Tower series forEVARZ? Is there anything from past games that you want removed, like the Rooders and Subordinates introduced in Clock Tower 3? Or is there something completely new that you're worried about?

(TL;DR version: this is basically the opposite of this thread, that thread, there thread, and pretty much all of the other topics in this section; what do you want to keep out of CT4?)

DOLPHINATSU WILL KILL U!

To me, I would love to see the whole Rooder thing go away. It just gives the poor, defenseless heroine a boosted handicap because she can go cap some arrows into some Subordinates' butts. So yeah, no more Rooders. I like supernatural stuff as long as they keep it from becoming campy superheroes.

The Subordinates I actually really liked, while as much as I would love one serial killer. The idea of having multiple killers in different Scenarios are fun as long as they can work, like in Clock Tower 3's case because Clock Tower Ghost Head wasn't the best executed. They don't even have to be Subordinates and just be random stalkers, though I would love to know their backgrounds and what made them become evil.

And no more just giving us gamers just one ending to live with. Clock Tower 3 really failed for me because they had one ending. Even though Capcom said that there were two endings; one is obviously the Good Ending that we all know about, but they also counted when Marquess Burroughs kills Alyssa as the Bad Ending. WTF. While I love having a ton of multiple endings like the ones in Clock Tower Ghost Head, I want them to be very different from each other like the ones in Clock Tower 2.

And uh, I can't think of anything else. ^^;;

OK, I like the Rooders. But keep it within the Hamilton family if they do CT 4.

I can imagine the bad magical-girl situation... Girl of no relation to the Hamiltons discovers Rooder powers, and teams up with Alyssa, or Alyssa's daughter. =_=

I would like a back-to-basics CT at one point. :D It would be really fun if there was a level where everything was dark/very badly lit, and you only had about 3 matches on your person that would give full illumination of the room. :)

Oh God, it sounds Shadowgate all over again!!! *cowers*

[Sorry, in the game Shadowgate for the NES, you get torches which you use to illuminate the rooms. But they go out after a while, since you can only use two torches at a time, it's no worries. Well, until one of them goes out and you're left with one torch that is about to go out, and then this CREEPY music starts playing... God, why am I such a wimp to this game?! ||| orz ]

I didn't mind the whole Rooder thing in Clock Tower 3 myself, even though it clashes with the feeling of (almost) complete helplessness the first three games constructed; even if you had some sort of weapon, you could never kill your stalker until the plot said you could, zombies from Ghost Head/The Struggle Within notwithstanding. Not that you weren't helpless at times in CT3 either, but- okay, I'll stop babbling and get to the point: I'd rather not have Rooders in my CT4 (though it'd be more likely than you think! :bricked: ), but I most likely wouldn't mind it too much if they were there as long as they weren't too powerful.

I agree with Enig's view on the Subordinates; it was interesting to have varying stalkers on your tail. Maybe CT4 could have Scissorman and little helpers of his? Like, maybe they wouldn't be Subordinates or anything too supernatural, but maybe he'd persuade people into becoming fake Scissormen like what happen in Clock Tower 2/Clock Tower (USA), or there were a cult that worships Scissorman? Wait, that's stuff I would like to see... Er...

As for other things I don't want in Clock Tower 4, I don't want just to have one ending, like Enig said. (I'm not saying the same things as her, I swear!) In fact, I'd like to see a lot of very different endings, and not just a handful of mostly similar endings like Haunting Ground said.

Oh yeah, and I don't want the player character(s) to have weapons like in the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series. (Or is it serieses?)

That would be SO cool! I've never heard of a survival horror that had anything like that in it, that's really creative. And now that Enig just HAD to mention Shadowgate, would you trip and fall to your doom if your last match went out? :bricked: :bricked: I have to agree with ya, Enig, that music when your light is about to go out always made me panic a bit. Oh dear, now I've gotten off-topic...

I just wiki'd Shadowgate, and I don't think it was ever released over here. ^^; Well, actually, even if it was, I've never heard of it. Sounds like a cool game though. 8D I am now watching Youtube videos of it. :) It looks very good and has cool music.

I remember my brother has a survival horror game called Condemned, which is on the XBox... It was really freaky just sitting and watching him play it. o.o http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condemned:_Criminal_Origins

Aw, that sucks. D: It's really fun (and nostalgia value has nothing to do with it, shush), but hard. Oh well, there's always ROMs! *strangled*

But, um, we're kind of getting off-topic here.

Aha, yes, sorry. :B

I'd hate it in CT4 also if it didn't have multiple endings... D: I know you don't have 'em in CT3, but... C'mon, Capcom, the Clock Tower series is known for multiple endings! D;

ALYSSA! I've become a Subordinate!

If I plugged in Clock Tower 4 and began to scream in terror, likely reasons would be...

...a "marketable" heroine in some ridiculous costume with oodles of swords and guns just spent the opening cinema breaking into the heavily-fortified Burroughs stronghold with her awesome elite ninja moves.

...aforementioned heroine is allegedly Jennifer, Yu, or Alyssa.

...someone who is allegedly Jennifer, Yu, or Alyssa dies in the first ten minutes in a spectacularly gory fashion with no higher narrative purpose than shock value, introducing a replacement with all the clarity and originality of a Xerox copy made on a machine from the 1980's.

...the game has some all-encompassing "message" that, even from the beginning, is obviously dictating everything from the characters and plot to the locations.

Gatuitous fanservice. In Haunting Ground, most of Fiona's extra costumes and hints toward her sexiness (detailed boob jiggle, suspicious camera angles) felt really out of place, especially considering the story line. It made me feel like I was one of her stalkers, made me feel uncomfortable (not in a good way) and took me out of the game. Plus, the CT series's young protagonists have always added to the uneasiness factor. It's bad enough that stuff is happening at all, but to a girl that young?

Can't you see I'm panicked? Just look at the background

A Lara Croft impersonator in a resident evil setting with a storyline like that overrated failure of a movie 'Boo'.

That about sums it up.

The 'magical girl' thing could have been pulled off pretty nicely if it was done in a more serious way.

I'd hate to see a main character who is all badass and tough guy attitude, it kinda takes the scariness out of the game knowing you're more scared than the actual character is. Plus if you see Sledgy murdering May, you wouldn't shout out "Bring it on, ya big ugly prick!"

I dunno, i'm just not keen on tough guys in scary games, if the main character's a little girl, you feel waaay more helpless.

Also I'd really not like to see any Mary Sues or obvious plot lines. I'd also be really pissed off if they turned it more into an action game. *CoughRESIDENTEVILcough* Or more likely in this game if you were some absolute parkour expert and you have to navigate difficult terrains to escape the nasty killers, because I can imagine the designers being all like "We wanted to keep the basic idea of your only defense being running away, but we thought it would be cool to make running away easy and stylish... Plus we thought Mirror's Edge was awesome! LOL give it a more modern and mainstream feel. So now the killers just aren't scary because you're too busy pulling off loads of flips, wall running, vaults and enter the Matrix's and looking cool while you're at it."

And as much as I liked all the CT3 characters I probably wouldn't be too keen on recycling them, I mean the only people who survive are Alyssa and Dennis... Quite honestly I'm not too sure what else could be done with them, I sure as hell wouldn't like to see "ZOMG, Lord Burroughs is BACK!"

Edgeworth's on the verge of Panicking

*babble* NO MARQUESS BURROUGHS. He was a bitch the first time, and I don't need a Lord Darcyroth the One-Winged Subordinate trying to kill me.

*ahem* Multi endings would be pretty awesome. And if it turns ala RE4, I may, in fact, cry and commit suicide For Great Justice.

And honestly, the only namedrop I can envision happening is Jen. (OT) Maybe the protagonist could go to her for help against Scissorman or something... which means Jen gets wacked pretty quickly after, leaving it up to you and with no hope of rescue... adds to the helplessness.

And Rooders? As much as I ADORED CT3, I honestly can say another game for the concept just would not make me happy. AT ALL.
The Reasons Clock Tower And Resident Evil Can't Be Crossed Over:

1. Alyssa would pwn all the zombies.
2. Bobby would probably kill someone. It's his job.
3. Jennifer would solve the puzzles in minutes.
AND
4. Bates owns Wesker and that is that.

"I see number four as a perfectly good reason to make a crossover!"-Me

"Give me back my cow!" -My sister, upon having to chase me around the house to get back her stuffed plush... of a sheep. XD;;;
