CT 2/CT(USA) for me.

CT:TFF really is close, and certainly compares (I think I've written elsewhere that I was amazed that a 2D game intimidated me so much when I first played it), and in fact the two get a tie, I think, if not for the fact that CT2 was my first one, so I played it completely blind to what I was in for. CT:TFF still managed to keep me creeped out and paranoid to make any progress, so perhaps if it'd been the first one I'd played before knowing what to expect, it'd have been my vote.

In my opinion Clock Tower: The First Fear was the scariest. I remember when I first downloaded it and began playing, the ticking of the Clock and and how it slowly appeared in that corner even scared me. When I began to hear the dripping shower noise, I was too scared to open the shower curtain... and after that I couldn't go to sleep... D:

When it comes to atmosphere, The First Fear was brilliantly artful. I still found the PS1 game a bit creepier, but TFF obliterates most games when it comes to being immersed in the atmosphere. . .and generally, it just brought a unique feel that I've yet to see perfectly duplicated by any of the later Clock Tower games.[redit][/redit]

OK, all the Clock Tower games have their scary moments, and on Saturday night, me, Terragal, Channi, and Hannah were scared witless by CT3. .___. Hannah, who had never even played it, admitted that CT3 is much scarier when you're actually playing it...

Remember, I haven't played the two PS1 games. (Why weren't they released in Europe!? D<)

I think that Clock Tower 3 is the scariest while you're exploring and piecing together all the clues... A Subordinate can come out of nowhere. I was in the rest-house yesterday (with the save book and the electric cable evasion point), and just left Alyssa in there for a few seconds (we also did this at Terragal's sleepover) while I reached over to get my cup of tea (I'm British, kay?)... and Coco came in "IIII FOUND YOUUU!"... uh... needless to say, manoeuvering Alyssa around with a cup of tea in your left hand is worse. Everyone try it. ;-;

Um, The First Fear is also pretty scary. I've played it so many times that I know lots of hiding places and evasion points, but it always seems like Scissy jumps down when you least expect it. xD I've been in the barn before, and I usually find that pressing X at the very top of the platform after you knock the ladder down prevents Scissy from jumping down through the roof. xD But sometimes, he's quite crafty, and the camera will move towards Scissy as he jumps down through the roof - although for Jennifer, it is ample escaping time. ^_^

It is a tie between CT1 and CT3, but I'd still have to say CT3. ^_^

So, let's see the results of the poll - what is the scariest Clock Tower, in your opinion?

As I have only played TFF and number 3, i'm gonna go with number 3. Although I must say after Chopper appears the game just becomes wayyy too funny to be scary, I thought the stories of (And the characters of) Sledgehammer and Corroder made for pretty damn disturbing gaming. I found it most scary the first time through (Obviously) but even now I always seem to forget the odd ambush point the subordinates hide out in and jump when I realise it's too late.

Not that the first fear was bad, generally it takes a fair amount to scare me (Sometimes) but the atmosphere in TFF was pretty amazing. Big mansion in the middle of nowhere, enter scissorman, whoopdey doo. Although in terms of just sheer scaring me I have to say it didn't work too well for me... Maybe because it's just an old game, I dunno. Not that there weren't bit that scared me at all. I jumped at the bit with the cat in the box, and the room with the mannequins was pretty damn creepy... And seriously, what the hell is that f*cked up giant, mutated baby thing?!

I'd definitely have to say TFF. When I first played it, I thought I knew what to expect since I'd looked up a basic plot line...well, I didn't know EVERYTHING to expect. XD When I was first running from Scissorman, I ran into the room where you get the black robe, and I thought, hey, he's way behind me, I've got time to plan something- and then BOOM THERE HE IS. Just popped right in. Scared me SO much. I was up for most of the night, worried that Bobby was gonna come into my room and tear me and my sister to ribbons. O_O Call me a coward or whatever you want, but I was SCARED. I still get nervous when I go into that one room where the secret room is and the crate starts shaking, I don't know whether I'll get Bobby or Baxter...

I've only played the first one, and I'm hoping it's the scariest. Not sure how long I could last with something any creepier!

The poor visuals in CT USA one stifled the fright for me. PS1 polygons just really ruin the atmosphere. The plot in the second one felt too much like a cheesy horror movie as well.

That being said, First Fear was the best out of all of them (can't say anything about 3 though.) I greatly enjoyed the sensation of being alone in a giant creepy mansion.
