Had the afternoon at a local pond to see what sort of fish we could get out of this place. Its an old quarry pond that is about 30ft deep in the middle and its teaming with good carp upto 50lbs with and very big bream, tench, perch and some very nice roach for the taking.
So we chose our pegs and fed the swim and casted out.....and waited, and soon enough we were pulling them out every cast.
swapping bait between maggot and trout pellet seemed to get the best results, with the bream taken a fancy to the pellets.
But the big carp never showed, it was just bream and roach for me today weighing upto about 2lbs
I had about 50 in all, and the guy in the next peg caught a 5.5lb tench and we saw one of the serious carp anglers pull a 21lb mirrow out, a fine fish indeed.
Ill go back again soon to hook the big guys in there and fingers crossed, they should be bigger than this one! :D
