Beckham's father has heart attack Beckham is flying back from the US, where he plays for LA Galaxy, to see his father who is being treated at the Royal London Hospital. The player boarded a flight in Los Angeles on Wednesday night and is expected to arrive at Heathrow later. Ted Beckham, 59, is in a stable condition at the London Chest Hospital, a hospital trust spokesman said. Chest pains A spokesman for the footballer said: "His father has had a heart attack and is currently being treated in hospital. David is flying back to be with him." Beckham's wife Victoria is working in Japan but has been informed and is "concerned", the spokesman added. David Beckham David Beckham flew back from Los Angeles where he now plays Mr Beckham, of Chingford, east London, was first taken by ambulance to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone after complaining of chest pains. A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an address on Hampton Road at 9.20pm last night. "We sent an ambulance and a fast response car. One patient was taken to hospital." Book published Mr Beckham, whose first name is David but is known after his middle name Edward, is divorced from the footballer's mother, Sandra. They also have a daughter, Joanne. Beckham and his father reportedly fell out over a book he published in 2005, called David Beckham: My Son. The book was written without the approval of Beckham, but the pair have since reconciled. Mr Beckham was influential in the early football career of his son, who followed his support of Manchester United before later joining the club as a player. Former England captain Beckham and his wife moved to Los Angeles at the end of last season after he joined the Galaxy from Spanish giants Real Madrid. |
